Enslave Demon workshop

Hi. I'm Yeldir. Back in the day, I was an enslavement specialist. I remember all the good times and the bad ones, from my first experience with Azrethoc, to the shock the community felt when Blizzard began their campaign of flagging all the really nasty demons as unenslavable. Now, I'm a Warrior. But I'll get to that in a bit.

The height of my career was soul linking Lord Banehollow, sacrificing a voidwalker for mad health regen, banishing him repeatedly every "enslave...

Re: Enslave Demon workshop

So I did some more experimenting. I now have a spell hit rating of +14.8%.

I find that demons still occasionally break enslaves early. Also I found that after a point, enslaving demons seems to stop getting much harder, so I'm hopefully that with enough spell hit rating, I might be able to enslave a doomguard for quite a long time?

Anyway, if I'm right about an enslaved demon trying to break enslave every 10 seconds. Then in 5 minutes it will try 29 times (not counting the first cast). If the probability of breaking enslave is 0.01, then using a binomial distribution, the chance of a demon not breaking the entire 5 minutes is
= 0.747172. So even with only a 1% chance to break enslave, there's still a 25% chance that your demon will break early.

Yikes, I shudder to think what the chance is if it is any more resistant.

Re: Enslave Demon workshop

I think the enslave demon resist caps at 50%, I'm not sure though.

I don't know if one can get that much spell hit rating, but I think I'm still going to try

Also, after enough enslaves, or after keeping it long enough, a Doomguard (maybe Infernal too) just dissaperates... I guess you can't keep one forever hehe.

Re: Enslave Demon workshop

Where did you hear that?

If that is true it would be pretty huge. 50% spell hit for enslave is within the obtainable range. I'm sitting at 30% in my current enslave suit. With some optimization and speccing into Imp Enslave Demon, 50% might be possible at fairly low gear tier (SSC).

Re: Enslave Demon workshop

Sorry, I probably shouldn't have said that then. I was just trying to brainstorm ideas.

All I've noticed is that after repeated enslaves (like 10) the doomguard wasn't as unwieldy as I would expect it to be if the hit rating really droppped down to 1%. I plan to collect some more +hit rating gear and I'll try again after that and let you know how it goes.

Or if you want to try and let us know what you find out that might be very useful!

Re: Enslave Demon workshop

Does anyone know how demon enslavement was changed with the new patch (3.0)? It seems demons get unwieldy faster now. It was speculated in the thread that after a demon broke free of enslave, the base chance to land an a succesful enslave on them went down by 10%, but that number seems higher now. Does anyone know exactly how much it was changed?

Thanks!
