Haste in WOTLK
One of the things that I noticed while leveling in Northrend is that a lot of cloth rewards have a lot of haste. Now I've seen several quests which offer lets say 4 types of rewards: 1 - Defense ring: x stamina, x defense and x dodge 2 - Melee ring: x agility, x stamina, x attack power and x hit 3 - Caster ring 1: x stamina, x intellect, x spirit, x spellpower and x mp5 (healers ringt) 4 - Caster ring 2: x stamina, x intellect, x haste and x spellpower Now the last ring looks like something a warlock would use, at least pre Wrath of the Lich King. But since we need spirit now I'm getting confused on what stat I should pick. Ofc I know not to pick the one with mp5 but should I chose haste over spirit or should I not? I'm not a fan of crit rating since Wrath of the Lich King since I'm trying to get my hands on some spirit but now I'm beginning to doubt if I shouldn't get haste instead. So as a conclusion: do we need the haste on all these items or do we need other stats? |

Re: Haste in WOTLK
Well, I'm only level 60 so what the hell do I know right? Still, I'll offer up what I can. My understanding of it is that about a third of your spirit will add spell power. So if you had 90 spirit, you would get an added bonus of about 30 spell power. Also, spirit helps with mana regen, but you have life tap and/or dark pact, so it doesn't matter too much. However, you probably will get better dps the less global cool downs you have to waste on lifetapping or dark pacting. Your specced affliction as far as I can see from what you have listed in your profile. So haste probably won't do as much for you as it would if you where running a destro build. However, Unstable Affliction, Haunt and Immolate (if you use it) do have cast times, so haste will help bring the cast times down. If you stack a lot of haste you can eventually get the global cool down down to 1 second. But that is a lot of haste to stack, particularly when you are running with an affliction build. All that said, when eradication procs and speeds up casting speed, it is pretty fun. If stacking haste gives a similar experience, it would be a hell of a lot of fun to do battlegrounds and stuff with a lot of it. But like I said before, I'm olny a 60 so what do I know? I'm sure their is a mathematical solution to this problem, but from all that I've read it seems probable that spirit is better for an affliction build... |

Re: Haste in WOTLK
Crit and Haste's values becomes a lot more obvious when you work Ruin into your build. Until then anything other than spell power for an affliction build is a toss up. My advice would be to not worry about it until you're 80 and min/maxing for end-game. You'll notice that raid gear is better itemized. Last edited by Necronomis; November 22, 2008 at 04:00 PM.. |

Re: Haste in WOTLK
The thing is I know what all stats do etc. but I'm wondering if the amount of haste Blizzard offers us to level trough Northrend is an hint on what stats we should aim for. Pre Wrath of the Lich King you only saw haste on higher level items (T5+) while you see haste items in early quest rewards now. Anyhow maybe this is just a stupid theory and I shouldnt even be thinking about it and just level up PS: I am Demo specced now with FG/SL (the spec Nymph leveled with). I still need to update my level and spec

Re: Haste in WOTLK
I blame Blizzard's latest push for confusing people into thinking Spirit is a Warlock stat now. It's not. If you want spellpower, the real spellpower stat is still MUCH better and the Life Tap scaling is NOT worth stacking Spirit for. Do NOT get Spirit. |

Re: Haste in WOTLK
This is the new order of importance for max dps in Wrath of the Lich King. Spell Power, Haste, Intellect, Spirit,Crit, then Stamina. It has worked very well for me. You could arguable put intellect after spirit, but i like the above much better. This should be the same for all PvE specs, Thorgar. |

Sure don't get it for Life Tap, but what about Fel Armor, pretty sure you are confused on what stats are better. |

Re: Haste in WOTLK
unless your end game raiding at level 80 and hit capped pure spell damage is better than haste therefore spirit is better than haste |

Re: Haste in WOTLK
Use spirit more for increasing your mana gain from your life tap, honestly you don't need a whole lot of spirit just a fair chunk which will up the mana gain and give you a little spl damage. |
