Isn't this guide based on leulier/bakka spreadsheet for the rate calculation ?

Re: Gearing Your Warlock (2.4 Edition)

Glad to hear you are working on a new guide for us in Wrath of the Lich King. Will be great to have.

I too though am interested in the DPS Values of each stat. I mean I know basically what to look for, but sometimes it's a really tough choice when trying to decide if I should replace a piece that has a lot of crit for say a piece with a good amount of Haste, while the Spell Dam/Spirit/Sta/Int are roughly even. Seeing as you would obviously have to do this part of the guide up before you can work on the rest of it, could you post that up if/when it is available? This way I can at least calculate the values of my current gear and look at what I am about to be running and calculate those and see if a piece will be an upgrade for me before running so I don't hold up the group trying to make a decision.

If not, no biggie, I sit there and try to make those decision ahead of time anyway, this would just make it a lot easier for myself and many others.

Also, I know you put a time frame up there, but how's it coming so far, would you call it 1/4 of the way done? 1/2? Just curious.

I would say the guide is about 2/3's - 3/4s done. So far what I've done in the guide is basically collaborating the lists and gear links together, but still need to figure out the values. Lately I've been working on leveling to 80 (just dinged today!) and had finals so I haven't had a chance to work on it in a week or so. I'll start polishing it up again after the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. I'd expect it to be out mid-December.

This time around, I'll support Affliction and Destruction spec DP values. I know a lot of people wanted me to support Affliction for the BC version of the guide (I only did 0/21/40), so I look forward to that. Unfortunately finding these exact values is one of the hard parts to writing the guide (and Leulier's/Bakka's spreadsheet isn't 100% accurate right now). Without speculating too much, I would say roughly this is how it will look.
Affliction:
Spell hit: 100
Spell damage: 100
Spel haste: 80
Spell crit: 80
Spirit: 40
Intellect: 10
Stamina: 0

Destruction:
Spell hit: 100
Spel haste: 80
Spell crit: 80
Spell damage: 70
Spirit: 30
Intellect: 10
Stamina: 0

Note that these are very, very rough estimates and the final values will be pretty much exact to the point based off the spreadsheets. But hopefully that should give you a bit of an idea if you're completely lost.

Until the next Gear Guide is available ….

I would like to start by saying an enormous thank you to Canadianpimp for the guides he has provided on this site – without which I would largely still be completely clueless regarding which item in The Burning Crusade was better than another.

Further, I encourage and (yes, Akasha, patiently) await Cpimp’s next guide to the warlock gems, gear and enchants etc Wrath of the Lich King provides for us.

To take some of the heat off Cpimp to churn out his next guide, I would point you all to www.maxdps.com/warlock/destruction.php (for destro) or www.maxdps.com/warlock/affliction.php (for affliction) as an interim solution as to what gear is available and what you might aim for – personally I don’t see this as a replacement for Canadianpimp’s work …. just something to help in the interim.

If you manage to get the inputs right, it will provide lists of items by slot based on what instances you are likely to be doing etc. It also suggests the best enchants etc etc.

I don’t vouch for its accuracy in listing items and I think it could use some more work …. but there you go

Ahhhhh thank you thank you thank you! :D Long time reader, first time poster (what is this, sports radio?) and I just want to thank you for all the hard work you do, both in the original guide and the upcoming Wrath guide. It was really helpful in getting me focused when I started raiding in BC a few months ago, and it's great to have some preliminary numbers to start playing around with as I level. So, again, thank you for all your work.

Re: Gearing Your Warlock (2.4 Edition)

I want to echo the sentiments stated above. Your guides have been invaluable to me as a leveling lock through BC and in the current expansion I find myself looking at your Gearing guide for more help. I am not much on therory crafting, I really just need to have a filter to help me obtain the best gear I can obtain.

I look forward to reading your future work as I know it will be most helpful!! I point every leveling Lock to this site and your guide in particular!

GREAT JOB!!
Regards,
Dakou

Really glad to hear it's coming along! Thank you so much. Fabulous guide and it's helped me quite a bit. The new version will help me more, as I wasn't playing during BC, so this is my chance to finally catch up!

Are we Demonology Warlocks out of luck? I'm hoping to see some info for Demonology, especially given that Meta/Ruin and 0/41/30 seem to be very popular builds. Is there any special information you don't have that we could collect to get Demo builds in there?

Re: Gearing Your Warlock (2.4 Edition)

Yaaaay! I'm excited to hear the gear guide will be making a return. It was invaluable to me in BC, even as an afflic lock.

In lieu of the guide I have loaded the Simulationcraft weights suggested by this thread (for the build that is closest to mine) into lootrank.com to figure out how to gear myself up for raids with 5-man (heroic) dungeon drops, quest rewards, and faction gear. (The weights look very similar to yours, CP, actually). I've also been using the hit cap thread for ideas, too, as I'm not hit-capped yet, and have a spreadsheet I'm working from for my own upgrades.

Of course, my guild pulled me into Naxx10 at 7 hours /played at 80, so maybe I should be looking at those rewards, too.... I've already gotten two drops outta there ;)

I've been using these numbers and am happy with the results. Have you come up with something close to the final values? It would really help as I'm getting a bunch of very similar gear right now that is making it difficult to choose. Thanks again!
