im currently at 383 so over hit cap with the 3 in suppression. Can i swap now and still be capped? If not now much hit do I need?

The hard cap for all casters without taking into account any talents or racial is 17% which come to 446 (445.94) hit. Spell hit - WoWWiki - Your guide to the World of Warcraft

14%___15%__16%___17%
367.25 393.48 419.71 445.94
if you want to gradually take yourself off of Suppression there is what you need at various percentage.

Re: What's the Hit cap Mr. Wolf?

i suggest updating this post by getting rid of all the gear, enchant and gem info to keep it relevant. Putting that stuff on a post is an exercise in obsolesence imo (and adds a lot of clutter to an already info-heavy post). They have data bases for stuff like that. Just add the following links.

Gear --- Armor - Items - World of Warcraft

Enchants--- Item Enhancements (Permanent) - Items - World of Warcraft

Food-- Consumables - Items - World of Warcraft

Gems --- WoW Gem Finder - Filter by Increases Hit Rating (sorted) or Gems - Items - World of Warcraft

Elixirs-- Consumables - Items - World of Warcraft

...also, your chart is a bit confusing ...this might help some people...

PvP against level 80 (most classes) = 4% (105) hit needed
PvP against level 80 (Blood Elfs, Forsaken, Draenei, Subtlety Rogues) = 6% (158) hit needed

PvE against level 80 mobs = 4% chance to miss (105 hit needed)
PvE against level 81 mobs = 5% chance to miss (132 hit needed)
PvE against level 82 mobs = 6% chance to miss (158 hit needed)
PvE against level 83 mobs = 17% chance to miss (446 hit needed)
PVE:
0 hit and 0/3 Suppression = 17% chance to miss
0 hit and 1/3 Suppression = 16% chance to miss
0 hit and 2/3 Suppression = 15% chance to miss
0 hit and 3/3 Suppression = 14% chance to miss
27 hit and 3/3 Suppression = 13% chance to miss
53 hit and 3/3 Suppression = 12% chance to miss
79 hit and 3/3 Suppression = 11% chance to miss
105 hit and 3/3 Suppression = 10% chance to miss
132 hit and 3/3 Suppression = 9% chance to miss
158 hit and 3/3 Suppression = 8% chance to miss
184 hit and 3/3 Suppression = 7% chance to miss
210 hit and 3/3 Suppression = 6% chance to miss
237 hit and 3/3 Suppression = 5% chance to miss
263 hit and 3/3 Suppression = 4% chance to miss
289 hit and 3/3 Suppression = 3% chance to miss
315 hit and 3/3 Suppression = 2% chance to miss
342 hit and 3/3 Suppression = 1% chance to miss
**368 hit and 3/3 Suppression = 0% chance to miss
394 hit and 2/3 Suppression = 0% chance to miss
420 hit and 1/3 Suppression = 0% chance to miss
446 hit and 0/3 Suppression = 0% chance to miss
