Do Warlocks really benefit from Spirit?
Yes, but not as much as some make it out to be. Whether it benefits you personally...

Re: Warlocks and Spirit

Thanks Akasha!

Yes I'm nit-picking a bit here, but one thing I've learned from playing WoW; small things can add up to something big.

You said Fel Armor gives 30% bonus, then go on to say 3 Spirit=1 Spell Power. The second statement is inaccurate. You don't get 33 Spell Power from 100 Spirit, you get 30; similarly, you get 39 Spell Power with Demonic Aegis added, not 44.

Feel free to delete this post if you correct yours.

Re: Warlocks and Spirit

Edit: Sorry, didn't see above post!

I think your numbers under "Spirit and Spell Power" are a tad off. Unless I'm missing something, which is entirely possible.

"When buffed with Fel Armor spell power will be increased by 180 spell power (at level 79) plus additional spell power equal to 30% of your Spirit. This means that 3 spirit = 1 spell power, or 0.3 on itemization."

If spell power is 30% of spirit, 3 spirit = 3 * .3 spell power or 0.9 spell power.

"100 Spirit = 33 Spell power "

No, if spell power is 30% of spirit, then 100 spirit = 30 spell power. 30 per cent literally meaning "30 per hundred."

"To work out your spirit to spell power conversion, take your spirit and multiply by 0.3 if you are not specced into Demonic Aegis, or 0.39 if you are."

This statement is correct. It is not, however, what you did in the above calculations. Again, I may be missing something, so please feel free to correct me.

Re: Warlocks and Spirit

Can i also add that you do get the benefit from the T7/7.5 bonuses as well. I try and life tap every 20 seconds so half of the time i get this bonus too as it adds to the fel armour etc.

Haste is very important for warlocks i think. Since most of my damage comes from shadow bolts plus the boomkin in our raids getting 4 shadow bolts in between refreshing dots can really add to your damage, rather than just two for example. I have very little haste in my pvp gear and i can certainly tell the difference. Shadow bolts are so much slower to cast.

Re: Warlocks and Spirit

This has helped confirm what I have been doing for a while now. I am an "old school" warlock & we always stacked stamina & lots of it so life tap didn't hurt much & we would "tank" on some occasions because of the amount of health points we had & survive-the changes that have racked us in PvP with the loss of so much stam. is a /fail on blizzards part as far as I am concerned. This is my opinion & I am stubborn about it.
I have not stacked spirit at the expense of any other stats but unbuffed I run about 17K health points & with the spirit I have a rank 8 life tap can take near 4K health- I use the glyph of life tap & so I use life tap rank 1 on a seperate key to proc. the glyph as I start a fight-this give me over 100 additional spell power for around 100 health points which seems a good deal to me.

Re: Warlocks and Spirit

Very informative post, having been out of the game for 2 years, i'm surprised how much has changed and am grateful for info like this that not only helps me back into the game but helps me understand the changes within the class. Cheers.
