Analyzing WWS For Affliction Warlocks
I actually initially wrote this for my guild. It includes very simple WWS analysis tips, with basic benchmarks you should look for, to advanced combat log filtering. If anybody has any questions, or has suggestions for improvement, I'd be happy to hear them all. 1. Initial Analysis These first two sections are only really applicable for a stationary fight, so you can take a look at the optimized picture of your DPS output. ... Re: Analyzing WWS For Affliction Warlocks
Great guide here - I knew some of this stuff, and have been using it to analyze my own WWS reports, but I learned a lot as well. One question about 1d, your % presence. Is it correct to say it measures "how much of the fight are you actually doing something?" For some reason I thought this just measured whether you were physically there or not (i.e. not dead or AFK). For example, I have crappy presence on Heigan because I can't dance yet and died during the first run-about, but my dps time for when I AM present (1c) is actually not too bad, given the fight (82%).

Re: Analyzing WWS For Affliction Warlocks
This is very interesting and provides undestandable advice on making sense of these numbers. Total noob question, but how can I get the WWS for myself after an instance is over? I never used this feature because I never had a clue how to access the information, let alone make sense of the numbers. Someone tried to explain it to me once in-game, and it made no sense to me. So I always relied on the rather obtuse information from recount. Is there a guide to interpreting the information and determining the ideal values for other raiding specs, such as destruction? I hope there will be some updates for the post 3.1 changes to the talent specs as well. |

Re: Analyzing WWS For Affliction Warlocks
First of all, you need to check if you have an existing combat log. You can find the text file in your WoW folder under Logs. If you do, delete it. Then, when you wish to start recording the log type: /combatlog in your chatbox. This will start the recording (you should also get a message to that effect). If you want to stop recording, type /combatlog again, and this will toggle the recording off. No matter what, all the data will go into a file named: WoWCombatLog.log in your Logs folder. After you finish collecting this information you need to log out and go to: Wow Web Stats. Sign up for an account, and once verified click on the 'Client' link directly to the left of the WWS logo. Download and open the client .jnlp file. (Note that you may be required to install java to work the client.) Once the client opens, click: "Add a Combat Log" and navigate your way to the WoWCombatLog.log file under the Upload Report tab. Then go to the "Configuration" tab and type in your WWS login and password. I would also recommend selecting "Archive and delete logs after upload." After doing so, choose a directory you wish to put the Archives. I'd also recommend creating a folder specifically for it as the client automatically creates an archive for each log and just tosses the archive into your specified directory. Once done, click "Host Report" in the 'Upload Report' tab. As long as you're connected to the internet and your log in information is correct, WWS should parse and upload and will automatically open the window to your information. If not, there should be a pop up window from the client which will list what its doing and once done uploading, it should also give the URL of where your report is. You can also find your report by going to the WWS website and navigating to the "My Reports" link. --- There are a few addons that will automatically toggle your combatlog on whenever you enter a particular zone or instance. This may not be useful for you given that you only want it sporadically, but it is useful if you are tasked with recording WWS for all the raids in your guild. I personally use LoggerHead. A final warning is that when you toggle the combat log, again, the log all goes into the same file. So if you don't delete or upload the combat log for one instance, then the next day you record again, that file will contain the combat log for TWO instances. This will cause two problems: 1) Your log becomes too big (size wise) for WWS to handle. 2) WWS only will take combat log with events within a 12 hour time frame. If the 2nd occurs, and but your log is still relatively small, you can open it in Notepad and manually delete out (or copy out) one of the instances. However, if the 1st occurs there are a few methods of dealing with it that I won't get into right now, but overall I tend to just delete the entire thing because it becomes a huge issue.
