Warlock Raiding Guide for WOTLK

Fallenman and Clearly's Guide to BC Raiding as a Warlock

The purpose of this guide is to help the warlock community with the ins and outs of raiding in The Wrath of the Lich King expansion. Much of the information here is a collaboration of information that is found throughout these forums, as well as several others. Credit is certainly due to Elitist Jerks forums (Elitist Jerks) and The Warlock's Den (Click here to read the entire guide

Chaotic Skyflare is multiplicative? I was under the impression it was just a flat 3% added. e.g. 150 + 50 + 3% with ruin. Alternatively, I would think it would be 206% (200 x 1.03).

Re: Warlock Raiding Guide for WOTLK

It is multiplicative, hence the 4.5 + 4.5 = 9.0. ;)

It works the same way the BC CSD worked.

Interesting...I understood where you got the 9% from, just wasn't sure if it was added before or after Ruin.

Blue gems are still crappy. They're not as useless as before, but you're still only getting ~5 damage from a pure spirit gem, or ~2 damage from a spi/other gem.

Re: Warlock Raiding Guide for WOTLK

I am currently using the Hybrid 0/31/40 spec but I am considering going to deep destro with conflag once the change to the conflag glyph and buffed chaos bolt go live. I wanted to know why you recommend only using Curse of Agony but not Corruption in that rotation? Is it b/c the GCD of casting corruption detracts from casting more of the powerful chaos bolt and incinerate casts?

Also, is Soulfire worth occasionally using (assuming shards are not an issue) as one of my 3 spells following conflag if bloodlust is up?

Re: Warlock Raiding Guide for WOTLK

Why isnt there a link to this from the home page ?

*** Information added 3 Minutes and 5 Seconds later... ***

Also,

"Once again, note that there is no longer a spell crit or melee crit"

this is misleading... yes its true that items no longer specify a difference but if you cast an agility scroll on yourself, your melee crit will increase but NOT your spell crit.

only Hit and Spell Hit have truly been merged.

Great work guys *claps*, one tiny tip you can use wowhead mousover links on the items and even on spells, especially for items it would be handy to look at their stats.

That's a function of agility, not of critical strike rating. Two completely different mechanics.

Also, the difference is class based. A rogue gets X crit for Y points of agility. A Warlock gets nothing from agility, but we do get Z crit for V points of int. Some stats give more than one attribute, such as Int for us gives us mana as well as spell crit. Note, I'm just making a point here about how it works, so I might be wrong on the details, and I'm not saying Int is better than... well anything. Just using it to explain the point.

So, although certain items (ie.. Scrolls of Agility) may only boost one form of Critical Strike as opposed to another (melee crit via Agility boost), you're saying that when 'Critical Strike' is directly referenced as an attribute on an item, enchant, etc.. that this would apply to both (using old school syntax) Spell Critical Strike and Melee Critical Strike.

Also, kudos on the guide, looks like it took some hours to write up !
