Things a lock should be warned off in PvP.

As some of you may have noticed, i am a fan of mods and PvP, and have been meaning to maximize the utility of MSCT for a while now. In order to do that i need a good list of spells or events a warlock should immediately react to. I am dividing the list in offensive and defensive parts, the offensive being the spells you always must have on (and are worthy of having an alert when they fade) and the defensive being the ones that are being casted by enemies or need a dispel asap.

Of course this is not an universal list, for example, CoEx works wonders with retribution paladins, but if they have a decurser (lets say a druid) and he is constantly removing it, maybe its not worth the mana and GCD used on it. Also this list is more focused on 2v2 with a healer as SL/SL, but I also would like to hear other specs opinions, like those from warlocks who feel red mages ;)

Now, whats that MSCT? Well, it's the wrong acronym for Mik's Scrolling Battle Text, a very well written battle text addon. It's a bit complicated to configurate, but with the tutorial of Daniel Moy understanding Mik's it's easy as pie, there's also one for advanced configuration, look in his page for it.

Offensive:

-Curse of Tongues for non melee shammans, moonkins and holy paladins, may also be used for disc/holy priest, destruction warlocks and ice mages at your discretion.
-Curse of Exhaustion for warriors, retribution paladins, melee shammans and non-shadowstep rogues, may also be used on hunters at your discretion.
-Fear i like to chain fear any viable target, for as long as i can, worst case a healer will have to waste mana and cooldowns to cure after a chain fear and a DPS will not be hitting.
-Shaow Ward for battles with warlocks and to avoid damage from casted spells from shadow priests, good shadow priests will dispell it asap.

Defensive:

Suggested reaction:
F Fear
S Silence
DC Deathcoil
T Trinket
D Devour magic

As an additional note, if the reaction is in red i think it's critical to do it, and i will use orange to less important stuff. Note that this values may change, for example a 8 second fear is red, but a 2 second one is orange, likewise a pyroblast at full health it's orange for me, but at half or less it might be red.

Warlocks:
-Fear F, S, D, T either to interrupt the cast or to dispel it once casted, i would trinket out only if it's an 8 second fear and i have no other choice or my partner is being nuked.
-Summon Felhunter F, S, DC if you manage to get 2 kills on his pet, then its time to make sure he is not getting another one, fear him, silence him, even DC him, and against a healer/warlock he is bound to summon felpup, so no need to add a summon VW alert.
-Shadow Bolt F, S a shadowbolt its worth silencing it because it will lock down the sadow magic, then again, i won't use silence on this if he is petless, i would save it for the summon, take into account that good SL/SL locks won't use shadow bolt without nightfall and that you can guess the build from the casting time of the spell. I excluded the other shadow attacks because they are frequent enough to make them not worthy of an alarm, still they may be worth of silence, depending the situation
-Soul Fire F Soulfire its worth interrupting due the damage it would make if it crits, try to use fear or LoS to interrupt Soulfire
-Fel Domination DC->F & D or S->F & D in my experience if they don't have an autosummon macro

Paladins:
-Holy Light an efficient long time casting holy spell? c'mon its begging us to silence it, or at least fear it
-Hammer of Justice dispel it asap
-Turn Evil if he is going to CC the pet, i think its better to just silence him and try to fear/dot him in the meantime
-Repentance dispel it asap

Druids:
-Cyclone silence/fear cyclone its one of the few ways to prevent a good druid from controlling the game
-Innervate you must send your felhunter to try to devour it, if he is still alive
-Nature's Swiftness another reason to have felhunter on autodevour on druid, an instant mana efficient big heal its just too much
-Healing Touch the big heal that takes long enough to cast to be worth of interrupting

Warriors:
Nothing

Rogues:
-Cloak of Shadows its nice to be reminded you cant do anything but run from the rogue

Hunters:

-Revive Pet if you managed to kill the pet, it would be stupid to let him cast another, fear/DC him, i am not sure if you can silence him, some feedback would be nice
-Freezing Trap good to know where he placed it, and be ready for dispel, be aware that hunters like to use this in combo with the stun shot
-Snake Trap good to know where he placed it
-Silencing Shot dispel it asap
-Hunter's Mark dispel it asap
-Expose Weakness dispel it asap
-Wyvern Sting dispel it asap

Mages:
-Pyroblast he is begging you to silence his fire school
-Presence of Mind its always nice to know when you are going to be nuked, with luck you might actually prevent it
-Counterspell dispel it asap
-Polymorph dispel it asap, if devour magic is on CD, then trinket or spellstone out of it, i try not to blow silence on this as most mages aren't arcane
-Evocation please, never allow a mage to fully evocate, that ammout of mana is very dangerous for you, and even more for your healer if they don't have cooldowns

Priests:
-Mana Burn since my healer is a pally i try to stop this cast using any means neccesary
-Mass Dispel only because i run with a paladin
-Greater Heal it might be interruptable, and it packs enough punch to make it worth fearing if possible

Shamans:
-Water Shield dispel it asap
-Nature's Swiftness dispel it asap
-Windfury Totem this totem needs to be dealt with swiftly
-Chain Heal annoying as hell, if you let a healer shaman cast this freely i don't see a way for you to win
-Chain Lightning if he is casting this, he is a magic DPSer, thus its worth screwing with it
-Healing Wave big slow heal = interrupt it

I am sure i forgot a couple of dozens of spells/abilities, or that i am adding some ones that are not worth it, so please help me complete the list.

Yay, mod love FTW!

Anyway, this is still a sketch, will need to add some more explains and possibly links to Wowwiki before it's ready. Also, I would love the feedback of those PvP locks that lurk around here, there may be few, but with deep knowledge.

Ok, I'm pretty new at the game, and PVP most of all. How do you dispell as a lock?

Oh, and be nice, don't beat the newb.

With other Warlocks and Shadowpriests keep Shadow Ward when you can.

Not necessarily. Especially against Shadow Priests, you actually need to time it to get any benefit from it. A competent Priest will just dispel Shadow Ward before it absorbs anything if you put it up every time it comes off cooldown, so if you want to actually avoid any damage you need to put it up while they're mid-cast on Mind Blast or something like that.

Hi,

even if the rogue is on CloS I'd still spam CoEx since there is still a 5% chance it will land

Re: Things a lock should be warned off in PvP.

With a CloSed rogue i like to CoEx if he doesn't seem that good at staying on me, fear if he doesn't seem how to kick and SL/Corr otherwise.

As for the mana leech, are you talking about Drain Mana? If so, i like it, but IMO now it's much weaker than the mana attacks of a priest or a hunter, so for me SP has priority if i have free casting time. I mainly use it to scare healers, they seem traumatized from the good ol' days and are phrone to stop whatever they are doing and run out of my LoS as soon as it's applied, creating a good opportunity to hit the rest of his team.

I think it used to get benefit from spell damage but got nerfed again recently. Before it was semi viable.
