Add-on and Macro guides Contrary to popular belief, Warlocks don't bind all keys to Shadowbolt and roll their face across the keyboard. It takes skill to be a really great Warlock. If you want to make your life a little easier, read some of the guides in here.

Pet Macro Guide

Pet Macro Guide (Version 3.3)

In an effort to gain better control of my pets, I came to the Pet Macro’s section of the Warlock’s Den. I read every macro there, and tried to wrap my head around what each of them do for me, and to my pets. They pretty much summed up everything that each pet needed. The Voidwalker has Consume Shadows and Sacrifice, the Succubus is good for her Seduction, and the...

Found the reference here.

If you had read the really long topic with a few blue posts in it from a week or so ago, you would know our stance.

We don't like totem stomping macros and we are taking steps to prevent them. Because of technical limitations, these changes probably won't be in place for 3.1. But we will get them in place soon.

You can use Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to paste into your open macro window. As for automatically switching while in combat.. that is not exactly available. One could probably put a macro on Shadow Bolt (or any other spell) like:
Code:
/cast [harm] Shadow Bolt
/petpassive [combat]
/petdefensive [nocombat]
This would put your pet on passive every time this spell is cast while in combat, and if you hit it again after combat (with no target, mind you), it should restore your pet to defensive. I'm not exactly clear why you would want that, but there you go.

Re: Pet Macro Guide

maybe it's just coz I'm new on The Den, but I didn't see a good full control pet macro up here, so here's mine ;-p
Code:
/cast [nopet] Summon Voidwalker
/petfollow [nocombat]
/petdefensive [target=pettarget,noexists,nomod]
/petattack [target=mouseover,exists][target=target,exists][target=focus,exists]
/stopmacro [mod:shift]
/petpassive [target=pettarget,exists][mod:alt]
the stopmacro is in there to allow me to change my pet's target using mouseover without the petpassive getting in the way
I like the novelty of being able to auto-target/cast on my pet's target without one of my own, so I use the /click command with the following macro for all of my spells:
Code:
/target [target=mouseover,harm,exists,nodead][target=target,harm,exists,nodead][target=pettarget,harm,exists,nodead][target=focus,harm,exists,nodead]
an example:
Code:
/click MultiBarLeftButton12
/stopcasting [nomod]
#showtooltip
/cast [mod:ctrl,nochanneling]Drain Mana; [mod:alt,nochanneling]Drain Life; [mod:shift,nochanneling]Drain Soul; [nomod]Drain Soul(Rank 1)
you can also use the pet control macro along with the following to prep for a fight and have your pet attack your focus:
Code:
/focus [target=mouseover,harm,exists,nodead][target=target,harm,exists,nodead][target=pettarget,harm,exists,nodead][target=focus,harm,exists,nodead]
yes, I know I'm a macro whore =)

Re: Pet Macro Guide

Those are some excellent macros you posted! If you were interested in saving a little space in your macro, you can take out the 'exists' conditional. 'Harm' duplicates the effect of 'exists'.

Sweet, I didn't know that. Thanks! =D
I've been meaning to get into the more heavy-duty macros using '/run', but I don't really have the patience right now. ;-p
Hopefully I can bring some more goodies to The Den in teh future, this website is awesome! =)

Re: Pet Macro Guide

Updated for 3.3
Old Felhunter macros:
Felhunter Spell Lock Macro
Code:
#showtooltip
/cast [nopet:Felhunter,combat][nopet:Felhunter,btn:2] Fel Domination
/cast [nopet:Felhunter] Summon Felhunter
/stopmacro [nopet:Felhunter]
/cast [target=pettarget,exists][harm] Spell Lock
/cast [btn:2] Soul Link
Felhunter Devour Magic Macro
Code:
#showtooltip
/cast [nopet:Felhunter,combat][nopet:Felhunter,btn:2] Fel Domination
/cast [nopet:Felhunter] Summon Felhunter
/stopmacro [nopet:Felhunter]
/cast [help][target=mouseover,help][target=player][target=pet][] Devour Magic
/cast [btn:2] Soul Link
These two macros do pretty much the same as the One Button version, but now the main pet functions (Spell Lock and Devour Magic) are both on the left click, while right clicking either macro activates Soul Link. These macros also share the Fel Domination use as the above Voidwalker macro. Left clicking in combat (or right clicking any time) will summon the Felhunter in 0.5 seconds if Fel Domination is up.
