Beast Within

Hello All!

I just wanted to know how my fellow locks combat a hunter, with beast within active? I try to CoE the pet and run. LOL sad, but thats the only thing i came up with.

What I want to learn is hot to bring him down with it active.

Re: Beast Within

It takes a bit of practice, but usually I UA the pet with a few dots after opening up with a DC on the hunter. Then it's mainly staying within the 5 yard melee range while keeping dots up.

Re: Beast Within

Well, with TBW active, he cannot be CC, his pet cannot be CC. Given your spec, I would say CoW the pet, Corruption and siphon life the pet for nightfall and life. Dot the hunter with every instacast, and try to get into melee range and drain life. With 2 corruptions, 1 drain life ticking, you will get a nightfall proc. If you are serious about this, start your shadowburning early.

Really, when he has TBW, it is just a matter of who can dps the hardest. No point kiting or CC.

Re: Beast Within

Well if you have no way to LoS the hunter, I would say CoW the pet, well you should do that from the begining, throw corruption and sipion life on him, then dps the hunter in melee range with all intants on him and DL him, keep in mind it will be a nightmare as he will use intimidate viper trap, anything to stop your casting.

Other then that you need gear also

Re: Beast Within

can a felhunter devour off TBW? Also im planning on going sl/sl once i hit 70, and TBW only lasts 18 sec, so hopefully shouldn't I be able to survive until it wears off, then just fear the hunter, to get some advantage on him, or fear the pet away and just let loose on the hunter.

Re: Beast Within

i believe the beast within is a physical buff? =/ somebody have to comfirm that... although i'm pretty certain... since i fought many bm hunters but not single once have i seen it being dispelled, but the previous posts were correct... the trick is to outlast the beast within and beastial wrath buff...

do everything you can to minimize your damage (personally that's the priority for me)

if you're on the mount when hunter pops the beast within buff (go ahead and laugh on.... but... some hunters do do that.... and thank goodness it will become the easiest fight you ever had with BM hunter) simply kite the pet on your mount and do not get off until the buff disappears... it's fairly hard to get knocked off mount just on the hunter's pet damage.... and the pet can't touch you on 100% mount... then dismount in his deadzone just in case he's a bm marksman for dps

otherwise CoW, and by staying out of LoS or in the deadzone.... you can use CoE to close the gap between you and hunter if he gets too far (after his beastial wrath), and replace the debuff with offensive (Curse of Agony) or defensive (CoW) base on situaiton, when you're sitting comfortably in his deadzone again...

if you were going to chase after a hunter.... don't follow his path... run parallel or around the path he's going... lots of people seem to forget hunter has trap.... and remember if you hit a freezing trap fel hunter can devour that.... so you can save your insignia of horde on scattershot or improved concussion shot... there.... after getting some decnet gear and with right build (i seem to recall a thread in spell/talent about a hunter killer specific build) you will start seeing dead bm hunters

Re: Beast Within

I dot the hunter, throw my Felguard at him.. then drain life if i need to.
9 times out of 10 the hunters dead before i go below 50%.. then its canablize time. and move on.

how to kill a hunters simple.
deal more damage to him than he does to you

they cant heal.. they cant remove dots, their cannon fodder even with the recent buffs, unless you get jumped by a well geared skilled one..
but even those die most the time.

Re: Beast Within

Like anything lock related I think this depends on your pet. If you're heavy affl and have your imp out, I'd say you're on your own, but you have a crapload of stamina to stay around for a while, get into the deadzone fast.

If you're anything else, use your demon on the hunter. I have ran around a bridge in AB and kept a bigredkitty off me while my succubus did her thing on the hunter, then you just drop dots as you keep the pet running instead of attacking.

If you're affliction drop your instants fromthe word go, and as soon as you can fire off howl of terror and drain the hunter, CoX on the kitty so it comes back to you slowly.
