Tagging mobs.

Anyone else get really pissed off when you have 3 dots on a mob and a hunter/rogue/WHATEVER is still able to tag it? Getting really frustrating since none of my 1.5 castime spells, UA for example, tag the mobs I hit with it. Anyone else like to see any and all damage spells that take 1.5 castime to tag a mob, regardless of when it does the damage?

Re: Tagging mobs.

Use your wand to tag. I believe it's damage that lets you tag your mob and Curse of Agony and Corr take 3 seconds after you cast to start damage. If someone else hits your mob with damage before your dots start to do damage, you lose the mob.

Re: Tagging mobs.

Or open up with Shadowburn, DC, or Immolate. The first have the benefit of being instant, the last of being a basic dot. I still use immolate even when farming, but if I need to tap something I usually toss a Shadowburn up first which really tends to piss off those intercept warriors who think I just dotted.

It's a little hard when you are against a hunter that has a 41 yard range on your 36.

Re: Tagging mobs.

Yup. If you're competing with a Hunter for spawns, you probably won't get very many. It sucks, but I'm sure you'll live.

Re: Tagging mobs.

I use drain life. It's instant, has good range, no cooldown and as I often lifetap to 50% after a fight I could use the HP anyway. Once the spell is gone I just put 1-2 DOTs and drain a little more. I dislike Deathcoil and Shadowburn for CD and Shard management reasons.

Re: Tagging mobs.

I'd like to see some "balencing" so we can get a 41 yard spell that tags mobs.

Re: Tagging mobs.

Actually, if that's an issue... If you've got intensity you can just mount up, collect and hellfire them down if it is very low HP mobs. I did that back in old Azeroth grinding for Argent Dawn rep. "Mage-style."

Re: Tagging mobs.

Rank 1 drain life is a must when competing for spawns. The best thing about rank 1 drain life is that you wont pull agro if someone decides to tag your mob, after all rank 1 only does like 10 damage to the mob.

Mainly it's when I am farming air motes, thought it is occasionally funny when the hunter kills himself trying to steal all the mobs when I SS.
