A Rogue's guide to beating a Lock

Step 1. Roll a rogue.
Step 2. Find a lock and smash him to the surface.

I realize this is a lengthy strategy guide so if you read the whole thing, you are certainly giving it your all in beating my arse to death.

Through much trial and error I have come up with a Lock's guide to beating a rogue.

Step 1. Run
Step 2. Run some more and hope you find a healer to keep you up through the fight.

Both of these guides will be available from Gamespot for $9.99 later in the week.

I am also working on a guide to beating MS Warriors and BM Hunters but as it stands, my research is not complete.

Long live the original Felguard patch!!!!!!

Till next time, enjoy mage hunting.

** Disclaimer **

This post is intended to get a laugh from those of you who have taken more than one beat down from our Rogue friends (as I have). It is aimed at 70s since prior to that, Rogues aren't much of an issue.

Furthermore: Some Rogue Math Formulas to ponder

1) The sum of Rogue + Crippling Poison > Me running away to gain space
2) Cloak Of Shadows = My dots gone and resisted for 5 more seconds
3) Cheapshot + BS + Kidneyshot + Vanish + Cheapshot + BS + Evis = Dead Me in stunlock
4) Deathcoil / Rogue = A laughable attempt at defense
5) Fear +/- Blizzard developers = Broken / useless / just remove it already so I stop thinking it will work against that rogue over there

Re: A Rogue's guide to beating a Lock

A well played rogue is a tough battle. I well played mace rogue I scream and cuss "You can't do that while stunned."

Some help should be coming with the AR/Prep nerf coming in the next patch but their still going to be a challenging kill for a warlock.

My suggestion is hope to get the jump on em. This alone can make the fight. Don't wait out cloak of skill, spells don't land often but spam Curse of Agony and then Curr and by the time the cloak is over both should have landed. Get space fast. Slap CoeX on em fast and get some space. Don't try DD spells like Searing Pain and Shadow bolt, a good rogue will keep moving to break LoS. Drain Life is your friend. Save skill coil for when you need it.

If you see dual wielding maces hope for friends.

Re: A Rogue's guide to beating a Lock

Being affliction, I generally don't stand up long enough to get through the stunlock. I could spec SL/SL but that takes away the fun for me. I have accepted my fate. Each class seems to have it's bane and for the majority of locks, the rogue seems to be just that.

At lower levels, they are generally cake but damn those 70s...

I am looking forward to the expansion more so to see if Blizz actually listened to the suggestions we made as a community on their class feedback thread.

WoW Forums - Class Feedback Requested

That being said, balanced PvP would only be achieved if there were only 1 class and 1 spec. Blizz never intended true 1v1 balance anyway. If each team in a BG has a decent mix of players, balance is a given and team coordination and players playing their roles truely dictates the outcome. I, for one, am happy with that. The fact that we are grinding machines is a bonus and is where the "OP" tag would be more appropriate for locks.

Re: A Rogue's guide to beating a Lock

A locks guide to trashing a rogue:

Succubus his arse into oblivion.

Once 70, get your PvP gear, add the Powerful Earthstorm Diamond for Stun resistance, that equals stupid dead rogue.

The high stamina and resilience, plus that gem in a Lock, equals many of a dead rogue who thinks they will get your clothie butt.

You wont win everytime, but you have a fighting chance, even as a destruction with the combo of gear and that gem and/or a succubus.

Re: A Rogue's guide to beating a Lock

The silver lining is that there are a lot of bad rogues out there. Although, if a savvy, decent-geared rogue gets the drop take the opportunity to get a bio break in while waiting to res.

Warlocks are always my target of choice when pvping my rogue. Makes me feel a little dirty and I like that.

Re: A Rogue's guide to beating a Lock

like i said i dont have the end game experience yet, but as of atm 1v1 me vs rogue (higher level included)=corpsed rogue, now if im in bg thats a diff story b/c if i dont have a focus on only them, then i am pretty screwed. Skill for them involves waiting till your focus is away, and then locking you up :D

Re: A Rogue's guide to beating a Lock

Just wait - it gets much more fun at 70 :-)

That said, at least the Prep/AR build is getting a nerf.....but Ambush increased to 275%, Hemo Buffed, couple of other sub talents "now working as intended".

Oh well ^^

Yeah arena and even BG rogues at 70 should keep you on your toes.
