play as a destro lock

Hi fellow locks,

after the last topic about my talent i went to sm/ruin and , this was working just fine for me, i surfived a lot of pvp battles ect and in dungeons im doing great to thnx to your help... but...

i was just wondering how i would be like, the have a destruction build. so i respect and got my self into pvp. I also read some info about destruction locks ect, but the problem is , i cant do almost nothing now. before i can do some serieus damage i went up to the craveyard.

Is there someone that has a sort of strategy guide how to go in battle like pvp wise, and then what to do, what is the first thing to do, what spell ect ect, till the enemy dies.

I would like to know this so i can play around desently with destro..

I have nothing to say about what to start with or how to use your spells as Destro because I feel that is highly personal and that there are many effective ways to go about it.
But I will comment on something that is fact for destro, gear!
(I did not look at your gear in the armory sorry)

Get yourself all the Arena and/or BG +spell crit gear you can.

Ok thnx, my gear isnt that good yet, ive only got 3 epics, i think there not especialy for destruct :P . But the main problem was that i couldnt get nice kills because they killed me first, so i was wondering if there was a sort of routine for the casting.

Like the aflict way i dot them fear shadowbolt ect, and go to an other target. i also could run into a big fight. But when i played destro and get to close to the mobs i got killed.

First of all, in my opinion, you need Spell Crit. Strike gear ( is we are talking about pvp).

you can use your shadow fury which is almost a instant cast to stun the target for 2 secs, you got 2 secs to cast a (fear or [seduce+CoE <--macro]). Remember you always got the Death Coil for emergency. Once you got them controlled then try to cast Incinerate>Inmolate> Conflagrate. If you got the target seduced, a Soul Fire is not a bad idea.

I hope this help! The idea is, they cant get too close, anyway if they get closer you got the Backlash which is awesome, casting Incinerate instantly plus you got shadowburn. damnnn destro is awesome!!!

Fighting as destro means using pet as dps help, and burning the foe before he can damage you.
And, you need to drink like a mage. Water. Bleah!!!!! It it was wine....
I think that being a great destro player is the hidden forbidden desire of lots of locks.
But, you can be a decent player in affliction, sl/sl, or felguard with 8000 hp, 9500 mana, and 900 spelldamage; to be a barely sufficient player with destro spec you need to have the right equip, and to get used to that playstyle.
Search drakedog vids if you loose the hope. He did great at his times.

destro does take a bit more to get used to than 'dot dot dot drain', but with more runs through the Battleground's you can pick up what works.

I'd say have somewhere around 22% crit and some decent spell damage (the closer to 1K or over the better). With my gear I typically have 22%-24% crit (depending on trinket) and not so hot spell damage (right at 700ish) but i still manage to get some pretty good damage out of destro.

Fear is still a useful thing. Just know that when you cast it, as a destro lock, your nukes will likely break it.

Setup immolate for confligerate .. also so that incinerate does more damage.
Use incinerate. It hurts. when it crits, it HURTS.

You still have curses so feel free to throw out the ones you do have. Seed of corruption + shadowfury is a beautiful thing.

Shadowburn is also a great thing to use to finish someone off with.

These are just some things that I do. They aren't the best thing, but they aren't the worst either. I just wanted to throw out some ideas for you. Play around with it. Its different than affliction, sl/sl, felguard-lover so it just takes getting used to.

I watched some vids on warcraftmovies and 1 thing i saw is that the most are using the sucmebus :P, that why they mentioned the macro.

When i had the dest tree build, the enemy was always the first in the attack, ant i was to close i see now..

One Tip - you dont have to save your Death Coil till your stunned locked etc and getting a walloping - if your getting a mob close on you fast DC him to give you time to drop a full fear and get position - then nuke his sorry melee rse.

Druids and Pallys will normally fight to 1/3 hp before a bubble or a shift and heal - you can save your DC for this point to interrupt the heal and then re-nuke to save wasting a ton of damage on a perpetually healing mob.

Dont forget searing pain - low cost, no trail - pumpable crit - nice in a tight situation with interrupts - also maxes your mobility

and as a destro when you hit a BG - have a Full Soul Bag your gonna be burning them - ALOT - a nice Pink soul drain provides you with a big sign saying "Come Kill me" to all Melee Classes and should be used infrequently imh

I support this as well. Avoid using the "warlock locator beam" unless you really need it and are in a crowd of support.
