I'm doing it wrong...
I'm a level 58 blood elf warlock. I use my felguard mostly and am demon spec. My problem is that I find myself routinely using 3 DoT's (corr, immol8, Curse of Agony) while my felguard tanks and then using my wand on them from a distance. But I end up having to heal my minion alot and can't seem to handle mobs of 3 or 4. I already know that I'm not as well versed in gameplay that I likely should be, but I'm pretty sure that I'm just not attacking correctly. I need some major help.

That being said, heres a couple of ideas to think about: 1. Instead of wanding, try using shadow bolt when you pull larger groups. That should drop mobs faster. 2. Naturally, focus your fire on the mob your FG is attacking so it will drop quicker and you have a reduced chance of pulling aggro. 3. Be aware of your surroundings. If you're in a pretty sparsly populated area, chain-fear one of the mobs to keep them out of the fight. |

Agree to Corpboy.
In my opinion, the "pull a group of 4-5 & dot them up" ist more an affliction tactic, using howl of terror afterwards. The felguard's advantage is to be able to fight even elite mobs, but it shines at "fewer targets that hit harder"-tactic. I totally agree to Corpboy. Try a few targets less, chain fear and let you felguard atack 1-2 targets (on his own), that's what worked out fine for me. Last edited by snackereen; February 01, 2008 at 06:36 AM. |

Re: I'm doing it wrong...
Agreed with above posters. If possible single pull with a insta and low aggro spell (cos, or a low level SB), back off and let FG intercept foe while he is coming to you. If you limit your dps you can even remove taunt from autocast, and apply it once at the start of the fight manually. And don't forget to put some points in mana feed and in demonic resilience because FG is mana hungry, and a little fragile imho.

Re: I'm doing it wrong...
If grinding lower level mobs I would suggest to get one to 25-30% and then intercept to the next one. Barely they will break to you but you have Deathcoil and Shadowburn for that. It's not the quickest grind, but pretty much reliable, and I have ground with SL/SL, UA/SB, and FG in The Burning Crusade (no nerves to try Destro).

Re: I'm doing it wrong...
I don't know if I'd agree that you need major help, because you already have FG which is half the battle.
![]() As other posters stated, pulling 4 mobs at level 58 may be too many at your level, considering gear options as well. Using shadowbolt to drop them quicker is definitely a valid plan of attack. Also consider using HoT after DoT'ing the mobs, then shadowbolting them as the flee if you happen to pull more then you anticipated. P.S. Don't forget, not that you were, to be using that HS in a pinch. |
