multiple mob help

i've been told SOOOOOOOOO many times that affliction locks deal the most damage and grind the fastest. i've seen it and i want it.

only thing is.... i'm having trouble taking on multiple mobs. i can take on about 3 but thats about it... even then, i have to get lucky. how does this guy do it? tbc-affliction-grinding.avi with - Yahoo! Video

i'm guessing he's got frozen shadoweave set, and those mobs are about 6 levels weaker than him. but do you see how many of them there were?

this is my spec and my gear..... can someone take the time and guide me to what i need to do to be able to take on multiple mobs? thank you soooooooo much....

Re: multiple mob help

Youre not gonna be able to do that at your level to those mobs.
Also, notice he had help from a healer.

At level 70 with FSW + similar gear, this is pretty easy to do at that spot.
Levels + gear helps alot.

Plus, youre not specced full affliction :P
IHoT helps doing that kind of farming.

Re: multiple mob help

That guy had a healer healing him every 2k-3k health he lost.

Re: multiple mob help

I generally pull 4-5 mobs, three instant DOTs on each, iHoT, dark pact, drainlife, lifetap, and finish them off. This works on mobs around my level. It's a very quick way of grinding primals which was very slow and boring when I was demo specced.

No, no frozen shadoweave - watch the heals ticking away on his SCT. Theres the renew and the siphon lifes, none of the 5-15 spam that scroll along with a ton of dots that you're getting 2% from.

Not necessarily. With SCT you can set a treshhold for minimal gain to show. I myself have it set at 100 for both health and mana (I think, might be higher) so all the small spam from stuff like FSW, judgements, spriests and shaman totems gets filtered out.

Re: multiple mob help

Your spec is wrong I'm afraid.

You need a minimum of dark pact to pull this off. 31 points in the affliction tree otherwise you won't be able to keep your mana going. Improved HoT is also pretty nice as a panic button if you bite off more than you can chew, as is shadowburn (11 points in the destro tree).

When grinding like this, your most important DoT is siphon life. This is what keeps you alive whilst the mobs are beating on you.

Re: multiple mob help

Very true, SL on 4 mobs heals me for around 800 per tick. SL always seemed pointless at lower levels but as with so much in the game it really shines at 70.

Re: multiple mob help

so i should go affliction with dark pact and instant HoT right? and just keep my SL/SL build for now or should i respec now? i wont worry about my gear because i need frozen shadoweave for extra healing and siphon life wont really be as good until level 70. right?

Re: multiple mob help

Armory is up the wall as usual so I can't see your spec. If you are SL/SL I'd suggest changing to affliction of demo until you are 70. SL/SL is a PVP spec though someone here did use it to tank Shadow Labs

SL/SL is designed to make you live longer, spec affliction and things die quickly which is much better for PVE.
