When ever I try to take on 3 mobs at a time...

here's my char: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-s...orei&n=Rohalas

i swear.... you guys have seen my threads and i must be doing something wrong. whenever i try to take on 3 mobs at the same time, i'll kill them but i'll end up with only 20% health and my imp and i have 10% mana.....

my cast sequence
SL, Corr, Curse of Agony on all mobs, then HoT instant and then drain life. death coil on the first one that comes back then spam drain life

what bothers me is that they dont die with those three DoTs. i dont use UA because it has a casting time and can get delayed. with 670 sp damage i swear i'm still hitting like a peewee cheerleader....

Re: does this happen to you?

I can't view your character.

I sounds like you need more Spell damage to me, I have close to 1k when self buffed, and can take on about 10-12 mobs before needing to sit and eat/drink what mana and health is still lost.

Re: does this happen to you?

I had basically the same problem at one point ... Although I can't see your profile either, you might want to try changing you rotation to the following:

Curse of Agony, SL, Corr ... on third mob (or whatever the last one you decide to pull is), hit Drain Life right after Corr ...

That sequence works really well for me ... Curse of Agony is good to cast first because it starts off dealing damage slowly, but builds up as the spell runs, so it has more of a punch at the end ... In the case of Curse of Agony, make sure that you don't restart it on a mob until it ends, as you won't get the "punch" at the end I just mentioned ...

I use a 40/21/0 build currently that is awesome for near non-stop farming ... I sac a felhunter to get the mana regen buff, and go to work

However, what Msbehavin said above is completely correct ... If you don't have the spell damage, you will continue to have problems ...

Re: does this happen to you?

Start off with UA, Immolate or Shadowbolt. Get as many casted spells off before the mobs reach you so you don't suffer from spell pushback. Once you get your DoTs on, then iHoT and drain.

Re: does this happen to you?

In my grinding gear (when I had IHoT, which I don't currently) I sat on 1280 damage so I just applied Corr/SiLi/Agony on the run and when I had about 6 mobs used IHoT, drained and looted - generally speaking unless I overpulled I could keep grinding indefinately as the returns from SiLi and drains meant I was constantly topped up.

More damage is the way forward

Re: does this happen to you?

the link on my post works fine for me. you can try the link on my profile. but here are the stats that are important to us 'locks

level 67
hp 7414
mana 5466
bonus damage 664
hit rating 0
39/19/0 affliction
imp for blood pact

stamina cant be sacrificed too much for sp damage.... at least i dont think so.... my siphon life is ticking for +160 healing a piece and corruption is ticking for 300 damage a piece and drain life is healing me for 300 per tick.

Re: does this happen to you?

Ok, First I am going to offer a little critism on your talent spec, okay?

In Affliction, drop:
-Improved Drain Soul, not really worth it
-Improved Curse of Agony, if you want to amp your curses, get Amplify Curse
- Shadow Embrace is a nice Talent because it reduces damage taken, which is nice if you are fighting multiple mobs

I really can't tell what you are planning for your final talent spec so I will just leave it at that with the talents.

As for fighting multiple mobs, with the imp for a mana battery, pull one with the Siphon Life( this can proc Shadow Embrace) and fear it, dot another completely and then fear that, dot the other mob up completely rinse repeat...

That isn't the only way to take on more than one but that is normally how I did it when affliction and it went fairly well. Remember you have Improved Howl of Terror for those "oops!" pulls.

Just remember fear is your friend, you have 3 types, use them well

Re: does this happen to you?

/agree with everything said

You need much more spell dam to effectively take on 4+ mobs. When I grind through the caves for the Netherwing quests (money this time :P) I'm constantly pulling 4+ mobs with Curse of Agony, Corr, and SL then iHOT, drain, SB when it procs. By the end of that battle I'm usually sitting at 75% health and 60% mana. Like most said, I'm sitting at 1100 shadow dam self-buffed (1300+ raid buffed). Spell dam is your friend.

Also, Shadow Embrace and Amp Curse are your friend, get them! (Says the lock who doesn't have them *grin*) Survival is key and those both will help you out big time. I would suggest gear options, but I don't know how much you do instances or what quest rewards you're looking at. Definitely try to figure out a plan for 70 and where you want to go. Some of the PvP rewards are pretty sweet and are easily attainable.

That's my 2 copper.

Re: does this happen to you?

Another thing I just noticed is your tailoring/Enchanting...use them. Some of the best non raid/instance gear for us can be gotten with those.

make sure when you are pulling mobs pull them at max range. This way you spend as little time with the m all beating on you as possible.
