Re: Leveling a lock from 66 to 70

first, quest grinding ftw.

second, in the late 60's i found that taking only 1 or 2 mobs to be the fastest as full affliction.
you don't get the satisfaction of seeing 4-5 drop, but there's no recovery time whatsoever. i could go non-stop forever w/o ever using a bandage or eating/drinking.
if fact, it's so easy my brain was basically on autopilot.
here's my cast sequence:
Void Attack mob 1, +damage Trinket macro'd into UA, Amp + Curse of Agony, Corr, SL
Void Attack mob 2, UA, Curse of Agony, Corr, SL
Target mob 1, Drain Life, Siphon Life, dead
Target mob 2, Drain Life(if needed), Siphon Life, dead
Full health, Full mana

I don't know about anyone else, but I leveled from 10 to 70 as demonology. It provides for amazing survivability and your felguard at level 50 is your best friend for doing quests that recommend a partner.

Re: Leveling a lock from 66 to 70

same...

but it's a personal thing imo since each tree is a diff playstyle. i only started playing affliction @ 70 for entry raiding then switched to destruction in T6

and yea what most people said... questing is the fastest way to level

Re: Leveling a lock from 66 to 70

I started in Nagrand at 64 or 65 with my felguard, I'm a bit into level 66 now. I've run through most of the available quests solo and gotten tons of motes, which is nice. Oddly enough many of the items from the quest rewards were worse than the quest rewards for the lower level quests in Hellfire. A bunch of the Zangermarsh quest rewards were worse too. Oh well, disenchant material!

Being my first toon I've no idea where the good quest hubs are or which quests to all grab and do in the same place for efficiency, so that probably make leveling slower, but half a level every few hours is still not too bad I think.

So the question is - what is the best place in my level range to do this well grouped melee mobs with around 4500-5000 health that quickly respawn
Ogres in Nagrand should serve this purpose pretty well -
on a side note though...do lots (LOTS!!1) of instance-runs...exp&rep-grind plus playing practice.

Re: Leveling a lock from 66 to 70

I drain-tanked to the mid-60's then switch to FG. Once I got the hang of using him (that took a bit work), I could take on anything. I stayed with him until 70 when I switched back to affliction to start raiding.

No one has mentioned following a guide for leveling. I bought Joana's and have used it for all my Horde characters (70 warlock, 70 hunter, 68 paladin) and can personally recommend it as a nice way to level quickly and still have the variety of getting all your experience from quests. There are other guides out there as well and they are worth a look to increase your leveling speed.

Re: Leveling a lock from 66 to 70

Started with quests and it really pays of, if nothing it refreshes my rested bonus. Those quests in Nagrand where you have to kill 30 clefthoofs and windrocks are great XP. And those neutral mobs are great for XP grinding.

Since they are all neutral i dont have to worry about aggroing too much, i pick one start with UA followed by Curse of Agony, SL and Corruption and then cast fear, they don`t even have time to get near me, and while fear expires they are dead. Then Life tap, Dark pact and move on to the next. When i get low on health wich takes a while since they dont have time to attack and SL compensates using Life tap to some extent i drain health, and when i see some of them with low healt in range i cast drain soul. When you set things in motion you get 1000xp in about every 10-15 seconds. And there are plenty of them and they respawn fairly quick.

If you grab a group in Nagrand you can knock out the Ring of Blood quest line. It's 6 fast quests that net 104,700 xp, 67 gold or so, a few hp/mana potions, and Battle Mage's Baton which is pretty good.

Yep, I have Battle Mage's Baton right now. The Ring of Blood quest line is pretty fun. We happened to be there when another group was there as well, so we just took turns helping each other with each stage. Heh, 10 players pawning an elite mob, it was basically a raid .

Nice xp too.
