Re: new lock need help with skill/spells
Vinx If that rotation is for A PvP spec I would change around a few things. Ok so first off if you want to fear the guy first then shoot do that I personaly like to try and drop ar least a couple dots on him then Fear him. That way I have time to Run away heal bandage what not since he will also have had time to hit me.
my rotation would look something like Haunt/UA/Curse of Agony/Fear/SL/DLorSB to dead If fear broke real fast I would Death Coil them and try to refear. As far as PVE rotaitions Go look around the boards theres about 1500000 open threads atm that have been discussing htis since the patch came out and before!!!!! So take the time to search the Forum and you should find all you need. |

Re: new lock need help with skill/spells
Assuming a 1v1 situation, are you running from melee/towards hunters as you cast instant spells?
As for the rotation itself it changes from fight to fight, but in general open with a CoEx if you are against physical DPS (including hunters, but change to Curse of Agony if they go red and you have good HP or CoW if you really doubt you can survive the fight), then insta dot while running, if you are outside their reach and have time for them to die dont waste time casting dots, just kite em to death, you can kite better if you disable autofolow from the camera, just set your camera to look backwards and choose the best rute to gain distance from them. Now, usually you can't do this due duel grounds limitation or time/space limitation in BGs/arenas, so after the instant dot's are up cast Haunt/UA->fear if they are not hitting you or fear->Haunt/UA otherwhise. If things go dandy from here you can drain life if you are low or Inc->SP if you want them to die fast. Of course there are lots of loose ends on this, but i hope it helps. Against dispellers cast CoT if they are healing or CoEx if they are running away (they hate it so they will remove it) after that keep casting it till there's no LoS, then a UA will bait a dispell and they will recive a good hit and a silence, works particulary good on priests. Against Mages begin with CoT. You can know the mage spec by looking at his buffs. Keep dispelling yourself with felhunter as soon as you can, it will complicate combos for ice, lower damage for fire and prevent slow for arcane. Well, time to go to bed, sorry to leve this somewhat incomplete but will retunr to the thread later today. |

Re: new lock need help with skill/spells
vinx I've moved this to the PvP section since the general flavour of your post seems more concerned with PvP, with a small side helping of PvE. I understand that may have been the reason for putting it in the spells and talents section, but a good rule of thumb is to keep separate topics separate.
The difference between a PvP and PvE rotation will be huge. You're going from sentient players who can be unpredictable, needing spontaneous reactions and different spells depending on their actions... to scripted fights where a solid rotation can be put in place largely uninterrupted. For the PvE side of things, I'll direct you to these threads. Please remember to search. The info is more than likely out there if you take a few moments to look. Post Patch DPS and Rotation assistance thread. Anatu's short guide for raiding as Affliction@70 3.02 NEW: Level 70 Raiding Builds (Post 3.0 - Pre WotLK) For PvP, SL/SL is broken, as per blizzards intentions to move people away to other specs. It's damage and mitigation is currently down, and with the lack of other options it's not as effective in countering the large amount of burst damage available to almost all other classes now. Many people are reporting more success with metamorphosis or destruction in PvP currently, but this by no means the right thing to do for all players. Good luck in your pursuit of knowledge and effectiveness. Regards, V |
