Spell Stones

I'm coming up to the SM quests and I read some where that a 'lock was using Sword of Serenity with a spell stone instead of a staff.

I'm using this Staff which has +11 stam and Intellect

It seems that it sacrifices the stats of the staff for the 1% crit chance? It would be fun to try but I don't see a lot of people using this set up so that gives me doubts.

So do you think this a viable option?

I use that sword and the Umbral Crystal. I will depending on the instance pop up a Spell Stone for boss fights. Like in SM if you are going after doan, you can absorb some Damage with a used Spell Stone. The +1% Crit is ok, but not great.

I wouldn't use the spell stone exclusivly, but if you wanted to its cheap.
