Finishing off Westfall

After handing in at Ironforge, I made my way back to Stormwind and then onto Westfall. I had just a couple of quests remaining for there that I wanted to get out of my log, and while in the area, do the starting quests of The Defias Brotherhood which will eventually lead you into The Deadmines.

[17] The People’s Militia
Obtained from : Gryan Stoutmantle, Sentinel Hill, Westfall
Objective : Slay 15 Defias Highwaymen, 5 Pathstalkers and 5 Knuckledusters
Rewards : 1600 XP

From Sentinel Hill in Westfall, you want to head south along the path to the T-intersection, and then continue south west to where you should be able to see the slope leading up into the hills. Up here you will find the Defias you need to kill, and if you continue fighting west, you should come across Grimbooze Thunderbew. This is where your 5 x Hops will come in handy. Complete the quest he has for you, but don’t drink the reward, you will need it in when we head to Redridge Mountains.

Note : You won’t get any XP for this quest…

From Grimbooze, continue fighting west towards the coast line. In the distance you should be able to see a lighthouse. Captain Grayson keeps watch just out the front of the Lighthouse and has three quests for you.

[15] Keeper of the Flame
Obtained from : Captain Grayson, Westfall Lighthouse, Westfall
Objective : Give the Captain 5 Flasks of Oil
Rewards : Two scrolls, choice of Potion, 6 silver and 1150 XP

If you held onto 5 x Flasks of Oil from your last trip to Westfall, you can simple accept and then hand in this quest. Nice bit of XP for not having to really do anything…

[19] The Coast Isn’t Clear
Obtained from : Captain Grayson, Westfall Lighthouse, Westfall
Objective : Slaughter 7 Murloc Coastrunners, Warriors, Tidehunters and Oracles
Rewards : 1450 XP

It seems when Captain Grayson talks about “the coast” not being clear, he’s talking about the entire length of it. For the Murloc Coastrunners you need to head all the way north to where you were collecting your Murloc Eyes from, the Warriors are about half way down not far from the Gold Coast Quarry. For the remaining Tidehunters and Oracles you will find them on the south end of the beach not far from the light house. They are also the highest level ones but if you’re careful you should have little problems.

[20] The Coastal Menace
Obtained from : Captain Grayson, Westfall Lighthouse, Westfall
Objective : Retrieve a scale from Old Murk-Eye
Rewards : Choice of Wand or Off Hand Item and 1550 XP

At the same time as you’re culling the Murloc Population, keep your eye out for Old Murk-Eye, a level 20 non elite big dark grey Murloc. At level 17 I had very little trouble taking him down and found him just near the light house, although he does wander up and down the coastline. He will inflict you with Volatile Infection which lasts two minutes and inflicts nearby allies with damage. Thankfully clerics can cure this as I found out after entering the Auction House and splurting all over everyone =p

Once you have killed all your Murlocs and retrieved Old Murk-Eyes scale, return to Captain Grayson to hand in, then head back to Sentinel Hill to finish The People’s Militia quest line. If you haven’t already picked it up, be sure to grab The Defias Brotherhood quest from Gryan Stoutmantle, the first step is to head to Redridge Mountains… which is where we’re going next!
