Looking for tips for Gotta Go! achievement
Hey, I've been invited for a group to try to gain the Gotta Go! achievement before the patch. We have a group with 1 BM hunter, 1 arcane mage, 1 elemental shaman, 1 fury/prot warrior and me. So 4 dps and the tank being dps as well really. The fight focusses on stupidly high burst. You have to bring Anub'arak below 50% before he burrows for the 75% mark, then kill off adds fast and then burn the last 25% within about 6 seconds (a corr or Curse of Agony can finish it off but there is not much room for dot ticks). They need a lock for CoTongues so I got invited :P. The previous time we spent a night on this I went destro with first a 0/20/51 build without conflag but with pet boosts and later on a 2/13/56 (something like that) build with conflag and backfire. Both gave me the distinct feeling that my dps on anub was actually lower then my usual 54/0/17 aff raidbuild. Tonight I used my usual aff build 54/0/17. It helped a bit, I think. We got him down to 10% once on our best try. The final few tries we actually did get him below 50% before the burrow each time so we're confident we can reproduce it (though there is still a bunch of luck involved). To get him down we do slower dps at start so we can burst the second he starts a pound or swarm when between 76-80%. The slower dps means we don't have any seconds spare at the final 25% so we can't use the same trick then and rely on pure burst. Heroism is used on the final burst, but we seem to not be able to get him down fast enough. I know both affliction and destro have peaks and lows during the dps time, but aff's low is too far in the future to matter (UA and Immo always have a few seconds spare when Anub burrows), whereas the first low of destro is precisely around the time that I need it the highest (immo fade or conflag strip / reapply and corr often fades just before). Now what I'm thinking is perhaps go with a meta build. The extra kick of meta should go a long way to knock those last few percentages off. Also, Demon is much more steady dps with only meta being an extra high and FG having a bit of a startup. Is this a wise decision or is the dps loss of aff vs demon so big that even in meta I'm just equalling aff dps? Did I perhaps do something wrong with destro and is that really the way to go? Also does anyone have any other tips for this fight perhaps? I think I've read most by now, but other readers might find them useful regardless and who knows, perhaps someone knows the trick that makes this a breeze .Ps. I know the patch will increase the timer to 3 minutes. I've already done the fight with a normal (1 tank, 1 healer, 3 dps) group in 2 minutes 50 seconds so the challenge is lost then. The whole point is now trying to get it before it's patched. |
