Re: [The Eye] Al'ar

Our "wacky" guild has killed only 1 boss in TK...Al'ar.

Re: [The Eye] Al'ar

I just thought I'd mention a strategy that can make this fight a little more fun for the guilds that are just farming TK either for kael loot or is still working on kael but does al'ar easily:

In phase 1 just dps as normal. The adds, however, are NOT killed. They are all offtanked by a very competent pally tank and healer. Ideally, you would like your melee dps do get each add to about 10% of it's life.

When phase 2 begins, all the AOE'ers go to the tanked adds. You should have 10-15 by this point. Everyone just starts to aoe like mad. The tank bubbles. The adds all die quickly. And Al'ar starts out phase 2 with 70% life .

For those who don't understand why, each add you kill in phase 2 takes away 2% from the bosses health. Saving all the adds from phase 1 to kill in phase 2 is a quick way to get yourself a large chunk of his life taken away right at the beginning of the phase.

This worked fantastic for us. That is, until Al'ar meteored a hunter that was AFK right at the instance entrance. He one-shotted the hunter and the rest of us died in about 10 seconds to the flame buffet.

CoR on A'lar or adds?

Re: [The Eye] Al'ar

Either because recklessness works for hunters, but more important for alar because all of the melee should be on him as was said. However you want to consider the fact that the adds blow up at the when killed... I'm not sure if that damage is boosted by ap or not. (I'm guessing not)

Re: [The Eye] Al'ar

I just wondered if anyone has done this since 3.0.2 and what sort of raid set-up did you need? It used to be a 4-6 tank boss but is it now possible with less than that, maybe 2-3?

Re: [The Eye] Al'ar

you can do it with 3

Phase 1 you have 2 tanks up top "tanking" A'lar and one tank below tanking adds

whenever A'lar quills the 2 tanks up top jumps down. to get back up a warrior can charge and a druid can feral charge ( don't think a pally has anything). worse come to worse your hunters needs to be on the ball and send their pet up.

Phase 2 is the same, except the 2 tanks tanking A'lar has to be vocal about their debuff

if you have high dps ( t6/SWP equipped ) you can get away with 2 tanks specced tanking and a random feral ret dps warrior for adds in P1 and in P2 one tank on add one tank on alar
