[Mount Hyjal] Anetheron

Anetheron
© 2007 The Warlocks Den

Type: Demon
4,200,000 Health, 67,740 Mana

Abilities:
Carrion Swarm: Deals around 3-6k shadow damage in a wide cone aimed at a random raid member. This also leaves a debuff on anyone it hits, reducing healing done by 75% (not healing taken) for around 15 seconds.

Sleep: Forces target to sleep. Similar to the sleep from the lvl60 Green World Dragons

Vampiric Aura: heals him for 300% of the damage that he deals in melee.

Inferno: Targets a random raid member and summons a Towering Infernal on them. Deals damage in a small area around that player.

Towering Infernal: Has a melee range immolation aura, melee can not dps the infernals. It can gain the Vamp aura when close to Anatheron.
Tactics:

WoW Wiki says:
Kill 8 waves of trash.

Have the raid spread out around Anatheron, especially healers. The carrion swarm does large amounts of damage, and the healers need to minimize the chances they will get the healing debuff. The healers need to communicate to each other regarding who has the -75% healing debuff, to ensure the main tank and Infernal tanks have non-debuffed heals. Raid healing can be rather intense if the raid is not evenly spread out, be sure people are always above 6k HP before the next Carrion Swarm, as it has been noted to hit as hard as 6k. Infernals will spawn on people. Whomever is tanking them MUST be in fire resist as the aura hits for 3000 fire damage every 2 seconds. Ranged dps kill infernals as they spawn, there should be plenty of time for ranged to dps Anatheron too. Melee dps Anatheron. Be sure to have wound poison on him at all times, and stay away from Infernals if they spawn nearby.

Note: don't talk to Jaina until you have distributed loot. An event will start which includes a wave of undead invading the human town.

Tactics part pretty much explains our role. To help out healers you can drain life if you get hit with anything. Drain life is not affected by the 75% debuff (go figure), so you can pretty much heal anything you get hit by with just one drain life.

Im pretty sure drain life will be affected by the debuff next patch, so dont get too reliant on it for healing yourself up while you have the debuff.

I haven't been to a kill since patch. Our guild rotation of 4 warlocks seems to have had me sit for both times we've downed him since patch, so I cannot tell you if it still is true or not. I will come here once I have confirmed.

Re: [Mount Hyjal] Anetheron

I could be mistaken, but if 2.2 was to change debuffs to now affect drain life, it did not affect carrion swarm. So continue to use drain life if your healers are busy and cannot afford to toss you a heal.

Re: [Mount Hyjal] Anetheron

Our guild has a lot of luck using three camps, a melee camp, a camp that stands right by Jaina and a camp that stands on top by the rifleman with the infernal tank standing on the edge of the hill by Jaina. Tank picks up infernal both camps rotate kill and rotate back on to Anetheron. This also allows you to specifically direct where the swarms go and limit who it hits to certain guaranteed people when it aims at a person.

Re: [Mount Hyjal] Anetheron

A warlock's role here is simple.

On trash, we do superb AoE damage with SoC. Just allow the AoE tank(s) to pull some aggro and collect them in one spot. Then toss a SoC on every mob you can until the wave is dead. If you pull aggro Soul Shatter and/ or run to the tanks. When one or two mobs remain, single target DPS or farm shards.

Boss: Keep DoT's up on boss, and DPS when no infernal is alive. When and infernal spawns, allow the infernal tank to draw aggro and position it. Then DPS untill it is dead. DPS on boss, refresh DoT's untill the next infernal spawns.
Stay at range from boss, and the infernal tanking position. The infernal does AoE, the boss has abilities that damage people close to him. His long range AoE is Shadow and can be resisted, but of lesser importance as locks have a lot of HP.

All in all an easy fight if enough ranged DPS is alive to kill the infernals fast.
