Re: Unstable Affliction

For PvP (non-Arena) and leveling/grinding I have found UA to be a second-rate talent, worth taking only if you've gone down the tree for iHoT. As a 41-pointer it's a farce. It would be useful if it was instant, but as a channeled spell it's just one more slap in the face for Affliction locks from Blizzard.

I haven't rated it because I rarely use it. Of course it's better than a stack of zeroes, but to me it's not even worth a 5 in any category..

For non-Arena PvP, UA looks good but it's *very* situational. I find I use it in only two situations:
When I'm "ambulance-chasing": hiding behind other players DoTting everything in range. This is like a tanked boss fight, and the cast time is not a problem. Of course as soon as a stealther or Warrior spots you doing this you're insta-gibbed, so you don't get many UA's off in practice.

1-1, when your target is Feared, and runs towards you (about 20% of Fears at best keep the opponent in range for a channeled cast). With trinkets, Fear is either 5 sec or 2.5, and you don't take the risk with a channeled spell during a short Fear, so in reality you almost never get a chance to cast UA 1-1.

UA usefulness is so narrow I don't even consider the "DoT protection" effect. It's happened a few times of course, but I can't remember it ever affecting a fight one way or the other. Value is zero.

UA can be used when leveling/grinding trash, but I tend to use the "Fear yoyo" with Fear/CoR instead of UA because it's fun UA is useless when there are multiple targets of course, because it's channeled.

As I said at the start - as a 41-ponter this is just an insult to Warlocks. Imagine it was at the same level in the tree as Dark Pact, and you had to choose one or the other - would *anyone* take it?

If I can get the UA glyph, I think I'll be happier with UA.
