soul siphon

Just saw this.

Soul Siphon now Increases the amount drained by your Drain Life and Drain Soul spells by an additional 3/6% (up from 2/4%) for each of your Affliction effects on the target, up to a maximum of 9/18% (down from 24/60%) additional effect.

down from 60% to 18%?.. must be a misstype?

Re: soul siphon

Somehow i don't think so we now get the most benefit out of it all with our own dots but there goes our synergy with other warlocks, kind of contradictory to i think it was gc's statement that people should be more powerful when they group up but i guess it stops Affy lock stacking too.

Just realized the wording too so i guess even if another lock has a dot up we have forgotten for some reason it won't help either

Re: Soul Siphon

Okay so this is obviously a nerf to the drain soul execute. I have to ask this question then, why is drain soul buffed at all if they're just going to do this second handed nerf? The DS execute will still be slightly better than shadow bolting, but we won't be getting 12k ticks anymore. The reason I can guess that they nerfed soul siphon instead of drain soul directly is because of all the 5 man lock teams going full out drain tanking in arenas. Seriously, what sense does this make?

Re: Soul Siphon

I think its to normalize Aff dps so that warlocks don't feel the need to all stack Affliction for the DS execute. Right now, as it is, when you have Affliction warlocks in raid you get:

SL/Corruption/Curse of Agony/UA ==> 4*4% = +16% for each Warlock. And you'll get additional benefit for up to 3 additional Affliction warlocks.

Now in 3.1, when you have ONE warlock in raid you will get:

Corruption/Curse of Agony/UA ==> 3*6% = +18% for that one Warlock, and no additional benefit from other Warlocks, except for easier upkeep up Soul Siphon 3 stack up time.

So in the end, it's buff to Solo Affliction Warlocks (such as myself) and a normalizing factor for everyone else.

Re: Soul Siphon

Your right, didnt think of it like that.
Still its intresting to see the diffrence in 3.1.

Me for one is usually the only aff lock in raid couse we are mostly 2 or maybe 3 locks in a 25man raid,
and even the destro locks Curse of Agony help us atm.

How much will the buffs even our the nerfs.. argh get here already 3.1!!

Do haunt and shadow embrace not count as affliction effects anymore? Looks to me like a solo lock is going from 6*4%=24% to 18%.

Re: Soul Siphon

Soul Siphon was changed to only be effected by DoTs back in BC. I'm not 100% sure what this means for Haunt, but I do know that Shadow Embrace specifically was removed from the list of effects.
