Re: [Vent alert] New and knows nothing threads...

OK, Im the new guy here so I guess I get to put my 2 cents in.

I dont use the search threads as I should ( I would say as often as I should, but I've only used them about 2 or 3 times in the Month or so that I've been looking at this web site), because when I am looking for something sometimes I dont know how to phrase it right (because I havent been a wow'er or warlock that long) and dont get the exact thing that I'm looking for. So I go back about 7 pages of previous posts and look for things that seem that they may be related, if I find it great, if not then I will ask.

As for being spoon fed, yeah we like it, we ALL do, at times. Anyone that has ever used a guide to get something done... are they spoon fed? Thats the reason of the forums to learn right? We still learn, it just helps make it easier for some of us. Is it better to learn from our mistakes or from others?
If someone helps you out when you are new would you not be more prone to help others out? Thats what alot of people. here do, they help the newer people out. When I get higher up in level and I understand the class more I want to be able to help other people out myself.

Do I feel bad if I post a ? like I did on one thread "Wich pet to use for drain tanking?" not really I went back a few pages and looked and didnt find what I was looking for. A few pages can take me back to middle january and thats when The Burning Crusade came out, so there are a lot of new builds/reasons to change your style of play. Not to mention you see how many new people come to this site, but not all of them are NEWBS, like me, but some more experiened maybe they have something to add that is different.

If ya dont like the newb postings you can probably tell from the title, "I'm a new guy help me", or the first few sentences of the post. Its not that hard to hit the back button and move on to something more interesting to you. If I post something and it doesnt get answered I figure there's probably a reason that I'm not seeing and I look around for it. Some people like to help others and I'm thankfull for everyone who answers my posts that I can learn more about it.

I'm not a twink (I had 2 bags givent tome by g/f thats it) and I cant afford to respec many times. I like to be able to ask people what they think is the best build because most of the time people say why and how instead of just 0/51/0 or 20/10/21 something like that. If I have 2 people talking about 2 different ways to get the same thing done that way I can choose wich one I like better myself and go from there.

Maybe I'm ranting maybe im rumbling on but the point is if ya dont like it dont read it. I post new topics previously discussed and yeah I like to be spoon fed at times. Heck I printed a reply to one of mine and took it home (yes I often read this site at work) so I can use that to help me when I play.

OH well I'll shut up now

P.S. thank you to all of the people who help the newbs like me out

P.P.S. thank you Akasha for keeping this running so we newbs can be helped out

it only gets annoying when you see the same types of questions asked over and over again. imagine seeing a "i'm level ~40, what gear/spec should i get?" type post every other day.

Re: [Vent alert] New and knows nothing threads...

Posts like "which pet to use while drain tanking" I have no problems with. Why? Because you obviously know what drain tanking is, know you want to do it but just need that finishing touch on doing it well. That shows you took some time to learn about your class and what you can do with it. That's nothing like what I was first frustrated at. Can I perhaps point you back to the 2nd paragraph of my post Temmuvas... I thought I explained that, perhaps not well enough.

An example of a new Warlock post I have no problems with:
http://www.wowmb.net/forums/showthread.php?p=88654

I can tell right away that they have a little bit of an idea, but more importantly... that they TRIED. These people I've got zero problem with, and in fact if I could help them I would probably be more than happy to.

An example of my frustration however is:
http://www.wowmb.net/forums/showthread.php?t=12747

Not only did they provide no explination of what they do already know, they stated they "don't know shit about Warlocks"... yet stand there expecting us to help them.

Locating and using a guide on something is not being spoon fed. That shows that the person has taken a moment to think "hey, there might be something out there that can help me, I'll go check." That's the exact opposite of being spoon fed, they are helping themselves.

In essence, that is what all the pages on the site are/will be about. The F.A.Q, Abbreviations, Starting Stats, Guides and Walk throughs etc. If you have a look at the front page, there's a whole menu system that will provide links to pages based on what is frequently talked about on the forums, with new things being able to added as required. It's just unfortunately that more aren't already done due to my lack of time at present.

Re: [Vent alert] New and knows nothing threads...

Yeah I saw that post also and kinda guessed that was the one you were reffering to (especially since he said he had higher lvls and didnt try). But that happens all over, the most notorius ones "whats the best race?" "whats the best class"(even tho we know its warlocks .

I dunno I guess all of us are different and things affect us differently. Like you getting takeing offense to what he said and then me takeing offense to that thinking you were grouping some others in with that. I reread your 2nd para and do not remember seeing that the first time, so I apologize for that.
But it did still seem that alot of the rest of the post went after some people who ask the same ?'s that you've seen alot before, but its still new to us.

Bah its a rant have fun with it get it off your chest and feel better :D .
