Dkp? Wtf?

So i was today kara.. allwell downed curator,chess, aran all in one row without wipes...

Now we down Curator, The Staff of infinite mysteries drops and as usual the master looterasks who needs...

So I whisp i realy need (i have only The Bringer of death)..

Now ashadowpriest gets it!!!! WOOT??? now this dude had better equip, better staff... better everything and he gets it????

now i asked about WTF... andthe masterlooter said he had bigger DKP...

NOW THIS IS BULL***t whats the point of dkp... when it is obvious that somoen realy needs some drop...
ive been Chess aran curator about 5 times now and nevergot anything... i only got one epic from my "x" kara runs... i think it is unfair whole f***ing DKP...

Its so that people who put the effort in get what they have earned. He probably saved for a lot longer than you or did a lot more raids. How do you think you'd have felt if you raided for 6months stockpiled your points and then had someone who had half the points you had, get an epic you needed just because he didnt have as good gear as you?

I am lucky that my guild does not use dkp - we are small enough and like each other enough to pass on items that will be a bigger upgrade to someone else as opposed to yourself.

It works to a point, but it is far from perfect. I've known people who loved DKP and others who got screwed out of gear because of it. Kara is small enough that DKP isn't needed. 25 mans and 40 mans, though, I can see the point.

Try admin-ing a guild with a larger playerbase, frequently rotated teams, and lots of loot handed out. It isn't easy. DKP simplifies the process, provided the players know about it and are onboard.

Personally, my guild doesn't use DKP in karazhan. We have a round-robin rule in place that tries to limit people to one epic per reset as much as possible. Everything is then decided by /random, with certain obvious restrictions. No rogues picking up Kings Defender until our tanks are set.

Moving into 25-mans, we're actually in the process of finalizing a custom DKP system that we feel addresses the problems we observed in our 40-man raids. Some specific numbers are being decided, and the back-end database to handle it is still being built, but I've already posted a FAQ on our guild's site so that people have an idea of what is in store, as well as a chance to add their thoughts to the discussion.

Ultimately, DKP is designed to reward people that put in the most time towards raiding. Any serious raiding guild should have a system in place, or they are going to experience a very high player turnover. Its really something you need to accept as having a permanent place in raiding.

I agree, DKP is the fair way to go. You put in the time, you should be rewarded. Nothing worse than going into a raid and having to /rand 100 against some first timer and losing something valuable because of no DKP.

I hate rolls, i'd prefer DKP any day over it. If i raid 3 nights a week for 3 months and really want something, i feel that I should be able to spend my dkp and get it.

/shudders...horrible memories of DKP...it caused the destruction of a guild that I was in...ick. lol Actually, the "geniuses" (and I use the term loosely) that ran the guild couldn't figure out the best way to implement it and then started the guild drama...

I have mixed emotions about dkp in general. For being a gamer with really retarded work hours, it made it hard to run instances, therefore making me feel it wasn't fair when I couldn't get anything. On the other, I totally understand the principles behind it and I know that I would be furious if I ran ever instance/raid and then didn't get an item b/c it was so-and-so's first run.

I think I'll just remain guildless...lol
