Warlock international cooperation!

Well, first of all, hello everyone
Allow me to introduce myself: Curufinwë, level 70 rogue (hold your fire!) on Kael´Thas (EU-FR). I'm posting here because I have a small favour to ask the warlock community.

I've taken it upon myself to translate the fabulous tale of Lady Synapse: The Tribulations of a Megalomaniac Warlock.
Some of you may have already have read it, but for those who haven't yet, to keep things short, it's a delightful story about a very special warlock and her slav- err... friends )

Now, the reason I'm here is this: I wanted to know if a warlock with access to the US forums would be ready to post the story over there, on the warlock forums. Basically, all I'm asking for is a simple copy and paste of what I've done.
I feel I should warn you: though I havent posted much yet (just the 14 first chapters), this will be going on for quite some time. The story is a couple of hundred pages long, so this is only the beginning (and the author is still adding chapter after chapter). So though it's nothing exhausting, if you accept this, you'll pretty much be posting a chapter or two twice a week until I've caught up with the orginal version (things will slow down a bit afterwards).

Oh, and one last thing: the story has been stickied (for pure genius) on the french warlock forums, and I'm trying to convince the Men In Blue to sicky it on the english lock forums.
So, chances are, if the story is as popular overseas as it is here, you might actually see your name on a sticky

Than you all in advance,

¬ Curufinwë

Re: Warlock international cooperation!

Course, you could always post it all here and then just get someone on each of the forums to post a link and info. Saves having multiple copies all over the place and then you actually give back to the site you've only come to to ask for help.

Re: Warlock international cooperation!

Well, a small detail I might want to remind is that I have no real rights on the story: I'm just a translator, not the author

And it is the author's wish that it be posted specifically on the warlock forums. As for posting it here, I'll be honest: all that copying and pasting is really fun, but if I can avoid doing it twice, I will.

As for gratitude for the website I've come to ask help for, I thought it quite obvious: this story is obviously going to get read a lot wherever it gets posted, simply because it's great (not that I have an inflated head or anything, I'm not the author ). So, if, say, for instance, some lock posted it all, and had a link to this website in his sig, I think that would give it quite a nice bit of publicity

Thank you for the nice comments though, and please bump the eu post as long as it isn't stickied

Re: Warlock international cooperation!

Sorry Belzebutinov, I have to agree with Lokee to a certain degree on this one. You've registered here purely to promote your work on another site, yet you are unwilling to help this site by providing a copy here. After all, we are a Warlock specific site. And we are also accessible by all Warlocks - US, Euro, Asia, Oceanic.

If anything, having it posted on one site where Warlocks who play on all of Blizzards regions can reply to would be easier than requesting my members go and bump or make posts across multiple forums.

I'm glad to see you are willing to make use of my hard work here in order to tell people to go and see yours. /sigh

I'm afraid we're misunderstanding one another. I am not unwilling to post a copy here. I simply said that I did not have permission to do so, and that the author preferred it was on the official forums.
Now, what I can try to do is see with Synapse if she would accept seeing it posted here. I have much less time on my hands than I would like (I haven´t even had time to play my rogue this month), but if she accepts, then I'll gladly undergo the task of copying everything I did on the forums over here too. I am NOT trying to steal anyone's hard work.

The only thing is that, knowing Synapse a bit, there is no way she is ever going to accept seeing it anywhere if that means it won´t appear on the official forums. I´m afraid that, as persuasive as I can try to be, she simply won't have it.

So, if it poses no problem to post it on the US forums while I post it here (and don't worry: I may be a rogue, but I do stand by my word), then I can try to convince her to accept. Being a story written "by a warlock and for warlocks" as she herself put it, odds are she won't have too much of an issue seeing it here.

As for the quip about my bump request: I didn't feel like I was asking for something overly demanding, just a little /wave to keep the subject flowing.

Oh, and one thing did rather, how should I say... hurt my feelings would be a little melodramatic, but upset me a little anyhow:

No. That's simply not my goal. I came here because this place has a good reputation of seriousness, and that I felt I could trust this community with this story.
All I want, with this story, is - as you put it in the Tavern tab - to pull up a stool, grab a mug 'o beer, and tell a story, hoping people will enjoy it, and spend a nice time.

Re: Warlock international cooperation!

Quick update: I've just had a little talk with Synapse.

She told me I could post it here, and leaves it entirely up to you to decide whether or not one of you feels up to copying all that on the US boards. Right this precise moment, I´m a tad busy. But this evening, I'll be able to post the 16 first chapters.

Requesting permission to create a "The Tribulations of a Megalomaniac Warlock" Thread on board sir! (tell me if you prefer to see it in one specific part of the forum, otherwise I'll just post it here )

Yes, but please don't call me sir. Unless of course I can be entered into the Guinness book of records for the first pregnant male. Feel free to create the thread in this section and I will move it to the Library for you.

Alternatively, if permission is given for it to appear on this forum however, I can actually register an account to match the authors name and copy/paste it here if they wish.

Nah, don´t bother about that, my AKA will do ;)
And never mind the "sir" thing, I've been watching Full Metal Jacket a bit too often these last times.

I'll after work, probably around 7 ish.
