Nerf 'Locks: A Rant
I'm sick of it. I'm sick of the jokes, the pokes, the threads, and the bandwagons. I'm sick of the conversations on vent, in guild chat, in raid chat, in every chat in the game. I want to play my priest, because its less, but then all I hear is 'if we had your OP 'lock you could solo this boss.'
Where did we go from free-HK to gods? Why does no one think that the class takes skill? Why does everyone assume I can deathcoil them into oblivion? Why the hell do bloodelf rogues still run from me? I don't feel overpowered. I get ganked like everyone else, by rogues and hunters, by warriors and druids. I compete on the meters, not lead them. I don't survive more than 5 seconds in the arena bacause I'm the biggest threat, and the first focus-fire target. Why do they still complain? But most importantly, how the hell do I get my damn guild to STFU about it? Guild chat, officer chat, my friends in game and irl. I rolled this character because the guild didn't have enough 'locks. I leveled to 60 so I could walk into MC the same night I dinged and help the raid. I don't top meters, I don't win duels, I spec for the good of the raid first and foremost. I am LITERALLY this |---| close to shelving my 'lock, and telling my guild to deal with life without a 'lock until they appreciate instead of mock. Is that what it's going to take? Is that the only way to make them realize? I'm sick and f*****g tired of hearing them bitch about how we are OP, and then complain because we only have one geared for raids and how they want another. Please, take away Fear, Felguards, and the Affliction tree. Leave us with healthstone, soulstones, an Imp, and a curse that increases all damage from non-warlock sources by 15%. Make our class entirely dependant on spirit. Reduce our HP by 50%. I don't care! Just make all the damn crying stop! |

Re: Nerf 'Locks: A Rant
/agree.
I've just come to accept that the one's who complain are either misinformed, ignorant, or joking (in the case of most of my guildies). I would suggest that if you guildmates really keep harping on you then freak out on em like you did here and maybe they'll get the point. /shrug. I dunno, buddy. Good luck with, though. |

Sadly, I don't think "Nerf Locks" will ever go away, even if we do get nerfed into oblivion. It's become a standard WoW phrase, much like "Hunter Weapon".

Re: Nerf 'Locks: A Rant
i personally agree with you.. i hate that people tell me "locks = easymode", "your a noob class and would be nothing without fear", "locks are way OP L2 play a real class", and "no fair you used noobcoil" ... (the last one is particularly popular among the rogues i duel and manage to win against).. but i usually just tell them that if they wont go all invisible and stun me, then i wont use fear, HoT, or the "noobcoil" that they complain about..
funny tho, when i bring up their class abilities it totally changes their mood... i get responses like "Im a Rogue its expected that i'm gonna be all stealthy and stun you" ... Well damnit man, Im a lock and i'm gonna fear you and melt your damn face.. Isn't that what is expected of us locks.. to actually use our abilities like the other classes use theirs? Like you, I do get ganked, a lot, and it always seems like its because "OMG a warlock, he'll kill us all if we dont double team him now while he's fighting those mobs!!!"... (i just realized that there was a person named NewfieDave here.. a fellow Newf among the warlock ranting.. lol) but seriously I've been on the brink of "shelving" my lock for a few weeks now because of all the hating.. but i'm too close to 70 to stop now.. but one day.. one day, they'll want me to use my supposed OP skills for them, be it against a camper, or a random quest mob, and perhaps on that day i just wont be there... final thought : i think that its not that we are overpowered, its that they are so under skilled.. ladies and gentlemen let the face melting begin.. Re: Nerf 'Locks: A Rant
Sadly, I think NewfieDave is right; saying 'nerf 'locks!' has much the same WoW cultural context as 'Leeroy Jenkins', 'L2P' or the previously mentioned 'hunter weapon'. It has been said so many times that people tend to believe it despite having no concept of the actual mechanics. Even if we get nerfed, my guess is that it will remain the case for some time because it is a popular (if misguided) opinion
.Let's hope DKs are way OP so attentions will be diverted. ![]() |

Re: Nerf 'Locks: A Rant
My suggestion is to find another Guild. I am very good @ my class. I am asked to go on raids because i play my class well. My guild mates don't say any of those things because they are my GUILDMATES. If they started though i would prolly just keep playing my class because i don't care if they don't like my class I LOVE MY CLASS AND IT IS JUST A GAME, but i know my guild would never do that. As for anyone else in the game that doesn't like my class. this is what i say to them "I am a warlock that is better than you and if you aren't down with that then i got two words for you.... SUCK IT"(and by the way that is a macro of mine."

Re: Nerf 'Locks: A Rant
I think you should play another toon until the realize the importance of warlocks!!! Without us there will be No SS= That means your walking back MUHAHAHA!!! No HS= Death when Priest goes OOM!!! No Imp= No extra stamina which could mean there life or death!!! And until they realize our Importance in-game and stop make these assumptions about our class don't play your lock!!! I'll admit this and im not ashamed I get pwned by just about every class in pvp it's nothing to do with your class it's the player thats overpowered or skilled!!!

Re: Nerf 'Locks: A Rant
You need your guildies to have to group up with a poorly played lock, you'll be surprised how fast they'll change their tune...
...and just for the record an equally geared warrior or rogue can pretty much pwn my face if I'm not prepared for it and much of the time will even if I am prepared...lol when I pvp with my warrior my first targets are warlocks...even as a protection warrior... |
