Just blowing off steam

So I get a tell from a guildie that invites me to join up for Heroic Underbog for the "Last boss cheat" which involves a release-and-log tactic to enable the priest to get the whole group to the last boss without having to kill anything else in the instance. All fine and dandy, I need badges, and it would be lovely if The Black Stalk (http://www.thottbot.com/i29350) dropped.

So we get in there, and it takes quite a while for the priest to do the res tactic, because we are told "he is stoned". But we finally get up to and down the final boss, and lo and behold, he drops the wand!! joy!

The priest said he was going to take the wand. I told him he'd have to roll against me (I understand he can go shadow spec so he could certainly use the wand too) and we roll on it. I lose.

A few minutes later, I want to look at the stats of the wand again. So I "inspect" the priest. Well what do you know? He's got Tirisfal Wand of Transendency (http://www.thottbot.com/i28673) equipped. I asked him why he rolled against me when he had that wand, he said it was better. I checked armory this morning, and he still has his old wand equipped. He's a chanter, for all I know he disenchanted the damn thing for a shard.

Now, If anybody wants to reply to this saying that I'm in the wrong for being mad, don't bother, you won't do any good. There's no turning me around on this.

I agree with you dude... My guild only needs when the item is of greater value than the one you currently have equiped. We will roll on an un-needed item.

I would be upset too, I am not in a large raiding guild, so maybe there is not the dynamics in place as in my smaller guild. In my guild we all look out for each other when it comes to drops, we know that if a drop can help another player, in return that helps up in future instances.

I guess your first red flag should have been the fact he was stoned. I play with a couple people that like to tip back a few beers on our instance runs during the weekend, basically it has gotten to a point where I can guess the ammount of beers they have consumed by how crappy they play...

Thats complete BS and I would tell your GM about this immediately. I know that i would put one of my members on probation or kick them if they did this. You are only allowed to roll on a piece of gear that is an improvement over you existing gear. I see this particular situation as greed and greed alone. I would ask him to show you the wand again and if he cant produce it then he did DE it. WOW.. this gets me heated because this has happened to me with several PUGs in Kara. I feel your pain Whymfrost and i to would be very mad

I totally agree with you about being upset. Remeber on thing though...a video game is supposed to be fun. I know it is easier said than done but remember... an instance can be ran again and I am pretty sure the wand will drop again.

I've never heard of this, what is it and how does it work? Hardly sounds like a Blizzard supported technique.

Just a thought, but he could be using the two wands in different situations. I have different gear for trash and bosses in raids since you don't need as much spell hit on trash.

Armory also might not have updated his profile yet.

I'm not condoning what he did, just brainstorming some alternate possibilities.

yes there is a difference in the hit and crit. But is it of so much importance for a priest.

There doing Kara in the guild. The upgrade is minor. I agree that it was smarter if the priest passed.

If he want to go shadow in Kara, a CoS benefits him more as his wand and a Improved Curse of Agony. Now if that damn pissed of Warlock has to provide the CoS. He's got a little suck up to do. Other way around naggin about a wand agains a healer also does not work.
If you need a priest for a wand run. He is the man. As you are sure he does not need it anymore

Assuming he Sharded it is also not that wise.
I would bring it up to one of the officers. Get over it an play on.

I agree with ya man that happens all the time. you should definetly tell your GM about this if its an upgrade it should be yours even if he uses it for trash mobs or bosses it was an overall upgrade for you and so should have been yours.

Good times! About a year ago my guild and I decided (after copious amounts of liquor) to give Hakkar a go . . . with all aspects still up. We had been farming BWL a while and thought it would be easy(ish). Apparently beer muscles exist in WoW just as in RL.

On topic: Yes, the OP got a raw deal on that one. Sorry to hear that.
