Minor disappointment...

So tonight I was running Sethekk Halls with a few guildies and a couple of other people and we get to the last boss, the Talon King. So far we had only one wipe and it was looking good. The group was Me, 69 Rogue, 68 Mage, 70 Warrior, and a 68/69 Pally. But anyway, we get to the last boss and we drop him first time, only myself and the rogue died (i still topped the damage meter for that boss somehow, so that was cool since i died at 50%ish), and we get the Oblivion leg piece, the Hallowed leg piece, and some other random drop. Since i have the robe, i of course wanted the legs to get my 2 set bonus and to replace my Netherweave leggings. And then the mage won the roll....
now, the mage was in my guild and they were a nice upgrade to what she had (Deadly Borer Leggings or something). But of course I was a little miffed and said "awwwww" as the pally said those are for locks and so on. I got over it but still that just sucked for me.
So i have to ask, what are your stories that ended in you being a little bummed? Or even, what are some stories that ended in a great success?
My success story was last night when i ran slabs, dinged 70 and got the Oblivion Robe and the Greatsword of Horrid Dreams.
So please, humor me and maybe others with some stories

for me my success story has to be when for the first time in a Slabs PuG we finish the entire instance without people whining that this is too hard after the 2nd wipe on blackheart and begin to leave, that and in the same run i got the sweet wand blackheart drops and the greatsword of horrid dreams, then proceeded to get my kara frag. All in all one of the greatest Slabs runs for me ever.

Myself was when we ran Slabs, well the party leader was the tank and for some unknown reason went afk, we waited for like 15 minutes as he had the leader and we couldn't kick him or get a replacement either he then d/c half an hour later and then we got a replacement tank and cleared it.

But thats tough about the leggings still its a replacement for what that mage has

the 2pc bonus is actually usable by mages and priests if they're properly specced (Water Elemental and Shadowfiend both regen mana off it)

Still, they should be locks getting first refusal. i was pissed when a Guild member ninja'ed my DS1 robe back in the day - i'd won but had a full pack, so while i was clearing it, he went and looted. He was amazed that there seemed to be two of them, not realising that i hadn't looted yet. He hit my shitlist for months ... and i was his GM at the time ... He didn't make another party for ages ...

Getting suckered by 4 people from the same guild into passing on a primal nether off Murmur and rolling in chat and then them messing up and saying in party chat to ask if anyone in guild needs it. It took every single bit of self control to not just go up and loot the nether and take the label of ninja when they pulled that stunt.

tbh evil i prob would have just got ninja label. The guild I am in, we have a nice core level group taht is usually able to do instances together but sometimes we need 1 more if some one is out, and even though we hold priority of guild over others, we have never screwed anyone like that before.

Anyway pretty much every run I do could be considered a success run, I usually don't hit instances b/c im focusing on doin the other quests to level fast. Anyway if I hit an instance its usually after everyone i am running it with has hit it a cpl times and they don't need anything that I can take. Like we might be running for a single quest, or just one nice item, well i get every other nice item that drops-so i guess they are all success stories. Sometimes i can upgrade half my armor from just 1 run :D

I got a pretty good success story.

It was one of those dreaded post patch days where it seems like everything stops working. Addons break and wierd things happen. My guild had a Kara run for 8 that night but due to work I wasnt able to log on til about 7:50.

I log in an soon realize I cannot see any chat. No trade, no local, no guild. I can't even see my text. The only thing that pops up is the level 1 guy named tyrdkdaibaeq spamming gold in /s, and the whisper I get from the raid leader asking if I'm coming to Kara.

Since I don't want to hold the raid up I hop in vent and decide to go raiding as a deaf warlock! Durring the raid people are laughing about what is being written and I'm talking in /s in response to what I hear on vent because I can see the boxes over my head.

Since I cant see text I don't see any of the drops as they are listed to be rolled on. I cant even see what I roll!! So right before Attunmen the raid leader tells me to roll over vent. Says that Rittsyns Lost Pendant dropped, explains the stats to me too because at the point I was still a noob and didnt know what gear I needed.

So I type /roll (seeing nothing), and all I hear are a bunch of yells, cheers, and "wows" over vent. I /s what happened? The RL says I beat 2 other people by rolling a 100 (beating a 85). Then like magic the kneck piece is in my bag.

We continue on and down Attumen literally 5 min later. Again I'm told to roll, this time on Handwraps of Flowing Thought. I roll again and everyone laughs again. Over vent they are like "you rolled a 1". Then the RL says nope, I really rolled a 89 and won that as well!

Two epics in 5 min, with no text and no idea what I'm rolling to beat, or even what exactly I'm rolling on. To say the least, those two pieces will alway hold a soft spot in my heart. After the raid I fixed my chat (deleted the chat.exe file if I remember correctly), thanked everyone in guild chat, and stated that I would only raid deaf for now on!!

just had to post after this because this happened recently but i am in group 2 of the guild and we just started kara. First time i get to prince my T4 head piece token drops, and i get it because the other people who could use that token already got stuff from this run while i had not gotten anything. I was so happy because i started playing right around the time BC was realeased, and the reason i rolled a lock was because i saw the t4 set and fell in love with the the head piece and the swirling vortex of doom effect it has.

Well I don't really have many success stories, seeing as how I'm not into any of th big raids or instances yet.. but something funny happened last night.

I was with my cousin and my friend (cousin is a 70 mage and my friend is a 62 mage, same level as me) so we got a little group for blood furnace together because me and my friend had a couple quests in there to complete.

But we dropped one of the bosses and some gloves popped up (not really sure which ones they are without being online to look) but I needed on them since they were better than the ones that I had.

The druid we were with rolled also and I won.. he flipped out and was cussing and everything.

He ended up leaving the party and I told him to grow up.

It gave me a good laugh.

Hmmm how many success & how many tales of woe? lol
I was in a guild after xfering servers to oceanic, a better time zone for me as i had to be online at 10Am saturday morning to raid at 5Pm the previous day server time, so I had basically ground my way to 60 because the times i wa on were at minimum population times for that server...no groups etc just grind long & endlessly, anyway as i said i joined this guild & lvled to 70,started kara etc.
After i had progressed through kara i started signing up for the 25 mans the guild was running...gruul,mag etc but never got a run,After speaking to the GM i Gquit when he told me i was in the guild to "run people through Kara" so they could get them geared up to do the 25 mans but the warlocks that were going now were the only warlocks that would.
The only times i got to go to gruul or Vr was when 1 of the warlocks was sick/holidays etc. Mag was so they could share the repair costs whilst learning the fight.
I joined a guild that was in SSc/TK but had had a guild explosion the week before (I joined) & were back in kara to build up to get back into SSC/TK again. At first they couldn't understand how i knew every nook & cranny of kara,every fight i could do with my eyes closed lol. During my runs in kara i had gotten my T4 helm token but the miniblade had never dropped nor the T4 glove token from curator.
The main raiders from this guild transfered to a bigger guild thats 5/6 bosses down in SSC & 3/4 in TK. We still ran kara 'cause now it dropped badges. when i think of all the badges i could have had from the kara runs i did before lol.
Anyway the guild were doing kara & they needed another DPS for prince as someone was having probs. so the warlock class leader asked me to go (i was helping a couple of RL friends at the time but they were OK about it) As i was flying over i was joking about the miniblade dropping finally & it did so the riad leader said he knew i wanted it so we would roll on it first & A DAMN MAGE ROLLED & BEAT ME & THEN TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY HE GOT THE T4 HEAD TOKEN AS HE DIDN'T HAVE THAT EITHER!! What a tale of woe...the following night i got to fight Leothorus the blind in SSC & the Fang dropped & it was mine- the moral is that out of woe the sun can shine
