Motivation
What exactly is it that lets some people grind to 70 in 5-10 days and others (such as me) are having a hard time leveling?
I'm getting fed up quicker and quicker. At lower levels this was fine, I'd get off and 15 min later I'd be longing to play again, but now it's just not the same. Leveling seems to be a chore and I'd just like to ask something... Will it get more fun when I hit 70, meaning I should push through and go for it? Am I doing something wrong that is sucking the fun out? Should I get a quest helper and run out like a mindless zombie? Or should I quit my warlock...to level my new shaman...or just quit WoW in general? I just hit 61 and I was happy...until I looked and noticed that it will take over 500k experience (closer to 600k) for me to experience that joy again... I'd appreciate input from anyone who has been through this already... -Sig |

Re: Motivation
Ok i know that I'm not exactly level 70. Ok I'm not even close and I know you wanted imput from people that have gone through this but just listen. I'm still taking my time enjoying wow and all of it's quests, history, etc. I think you should keep on going!!! You've went so far!!!
If you quit WoW, it'll all be a big waste. Think of how many hours you spent playing. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!![]() |

Re: Motivation
Dude I hate leveling worst part about the game the only way I made it to 70 was with friends find a quest buddy and hop on a vent server. This makes it almost ok. You get to experience a whole new world at 70. I have 8 level 30-35 alts and non of them compare to my lock I love being a 70 lock. You will get there then you will get to raid or arena and that is where the fun of wow comes from mMo multiplayer is key during the level grind.

Re: Motivation
Well so far I haven't had any trouble leveling my warlock, ever. All I do is visit an area my level range and do all the quests. By doing that I go up like 3 levels in a couple of days. So far it's been steady and fun, though I will admit that sometimes when I get like 4 fetch quests at once I go do something else.
I notice though that that only applies to my warlock, as my mage is stuck at 35 and I don't see how to move on. EDIT: I also wanted to point out that through the levels I've always had some sort of landmark goal. First there were the ones about getting new minions, then getting my shadoweave set, getting my felsteed, getting to Outland, getting my dreadsteed and now reaching 70. After that I guess it will be getting my FSW set, getting my netherdrake and then do some pvp for well... pvp sets. When Wrath of the Lich King comes out they are moving the goal post though. New tailoring items, new pvp stuff, new levels to reach and possibly new mounts. Last edited by Khaf; April 15, 2008 at 09:01 PM. |

Re: Motivation
With my fifth character about to hit 70.. I have to say I'm not quite sure. I just get an urge to play a different class in my spare time and look back and I'm 2/3 the way through outlands already. It just happens.
My latest splurge was the need to misdirect Van onto clothies in alterac valley. Kinda stuck at 69 though >.< |

Re: Motivation
On my 3 level 70's i found outland to be the quickest part. Run some instances for a break from questing and it might help.
I know it might look like alot of xp to level but the quests and mobs in outland give alot more xp as well. keep at it and if your really not enjoying it then it might not be the class/game for you. |

Re: Motivation
On my 6 level 70ies... well, the first 5 were kind of fun (I varied a lot and tried to level each of them simultaneously). My first was the WL so this was the most fun and he's still my main.
The sixth was a real pain (I wanted a priest, so she was my last). It annoyed me so much because I couldn't switch characters and I felt I knew every npc and questgiver by his surname. So my advice would be: level 2 or 3 toons simultaneously. That keeps the fun in it. |

Re: Motivation
Don't quest above your level. Make sure you do every quest you can in every zone you pass through. That's not always possible with the group quests but many of those are soloable.
If you do that, you'll enter the next zone towards the upper end of the level range and have an easier time. It might seem like you're getting less XP by doing quests when they're green or yellow rather than orange but you get them done a lot quicker and you have much reduced downtime. Your XP/hour will shoot up. Don't expect to level in Outlands as fast as you did in Azeroth. Leveling speed below 60 got a significant boost a few patches ago. But don't be intimidated by the high numbers either. Quests give a lot more XP in Outlands than they did in Azeroth. 500k at 61 is a lot less than 2x250k at 60. If this is your first time through, you will be slower because you don't know the content but at least it's fresh for you. Don't be in too much of a rush to hit 70, savour the experience. |

Re: Motivation
Best tip I can give is to dedicate some time to it. Grab some water/food and head out and try to complete as many quests as you can before going back to town. Break it down like that, it's 2-3 trips out per level in my experience.
I enjoy levelling though, moreso at lower levels (30-50) and I do find doing outland again a little frustrating (5th time) but still the reward is being able to take my rogue into Karazhan runs and die to various melee unfriendly effects so its all worth it ![]() |

Re: Motivation
I detest leveling and can definitely relate. Let me assure you though that it gets a lot better at level 70. My suggestion to "ease the pain" is to run more instances and join a guild with people around your level and will quest and group with you.
It also sucks when you die a lot, so make sure you aren't trying to do things too hard. Actually you probably get the most XP/hour doing quests and killing things 2-3 levels below you because you kill it much faster. |
