I HATE guild drama

Yippee. My guild's first time into Naxx 10's Plague Quarter.

Lo and behold, it doesn't go well (as in, we keep wiping, which EVERYONE expected). Our PuGgers, and we TOLD them we were a fairly new, very undergeared, group, decided that they didn't want to deal with that and headed off. After that happened twice, we decided to call the raid and head off, maybe do a couple heroics or something.

Someone suggested HHoL, but they had to get dinner first, so they asked us to wait. I missed this because I was talking to a RL friend who wanted to know if I would tank Naxx 25. Let me make it explicitely clear that I NEVER ONCE SAID that I would tank HoL. Apparently, I never said that I wouldn't, either, but as I am the only full-time tank in the guild it was assumed that I'd go.

Lo and behold, the person sees me in Naxx, goes all WTF?, starts tearing me a new one in guild chat, Guild leader gets involved, said person starts ripping the GL a new one, the GL has to take a call for work, the person leaves and takes half of the guild with them.

Apparently, someone else had been demoted from officership a couple months back because he didn't attend a raid, whereas my sole duties were to set up our Naxx and OS attempts; they thought that I knew about the demotion and would not believe me as I told them I had no clue.

Seriously people, THIS IS A GAME. I HATE my precious few hours of free time being taken up by a new job, I HATE organizing people, and I HATE it when people yell at me for helping a RL friend (who I very rarely see) instead of guildies.

On an entirely different note, Akasha, the thread suggestion thing works very nicely.

ROFL, that last line made me chuckle. I was all like 'yeah, yeah rawr' with you, then BAM, a nice little compliment thrown in there.

I completely agree with you though. This game (for most) is about enjoying some free time. Imagine if those who watched TV got yelled at because they wanted to watch American Idol not Lost! The anarchy!

You didn't say you'd go to HoL, so in my eyes, you did nothing wrong. Next time they assume something, let them know that 'assume makes an @ss out you before me'

Re: I HATE guild drama

well, if it gets that bad, for a $25 entry fee (character transfer), we'll take you in KWSN. We could use another tank and we don't do guild drama. A no-joke (unless you're joking) casual raiding guild.

Otherwise, tell 'em to stuff it and find a better guild.

Re: I HATE guild drama

I feel for you. My guild was resorting to taking pugs for 10 man content so we decided to merge with another guild so we could always have enough active for 25 man content. Its only been one week and on the second day of our 25 man naxx clear the tank officer from the new guild dropped F bombs on an officer from the old guild for almost 5 minutes for a wipe on trash. Not even a boss but trash, and he said the wipe was his fault. Well the language was so bad in vent that the raid leader finally did his job and diffused it. He didn't even do it fast enough although he was to the point and firm about if you want to lead a raid just schedule it and dont do this in vent blah blah. The point is this, the 25 man raid disbanded with in an hour of starting the second day of naxx. I don't want to waste my precious nights away from my live in girlfriend for kiddie crap. Whats worse is that our old GM is an officer in the new guild and he didn't speak up because we are not in a position of power or negotiation based on numbers. We lost all tenure even for invites after merging. Ther is no excuse for that kind of behavior and I don't care if the guy is a tank, he sounded like my exwife and I really don't want to game with my exwife. /end rant

Re: I HATE guild drama

I've left guilds before for abusive language.
Basically, it ruins my enjoyment and my kids often watch while I play.
They don't need to hear that kind of thing either.

On the plus side, i've had two runs in normal naxx.
One wiped earlier on a small boss and tanks walked on us.
The other I was filling in a spot for a guild (as was 2 others) doing a 10 man and we sliced thru it with the occasional death.

Cor, (ironically the name of the RL friend in question), could I create a DK on your server so I could see if I mesh with y'all at all? Maybe do a ramps run or something?

As you can imagine, I'd rather not spend $25 if it's not going to work out. That said, TB's dying anyway, so it's only a matter of time before I leave.

Re: I HATE guild drama

I sympathise with all of this.

We are currently going through a batch of people who push guild rules to the limit, and only back off after being demoted

We have a nice clean guild, with family members etc, and for the most part its a few younger members who treat guild chat like the school yard. Recently they have gone as far as creating multiple alts to stalk a guild member, with variations of his name.

As an officer, it really creates extra work trying to keep things together , if I wanted drama, I would play the 'home and away mmorpg'.

Not a problem. We'll roll with you any time. Many of our guildies are from Canada, but they seem to be great folks. Send me a tell or mail in game and I'll have you invited. We're pretty laid back, and have no problems helping one another out. Vorath is the GL's name, btw. (if you reference the Den in your mail or tell you are guaranteed to have my undivided attention )

Re: I HATE guild drama

that is why i hate guilds so much. every guild that i get into is full of a bunch of whiners. i was in a guild for 2 months before i found out they were all 12 years old. i was the only one that wasn't in junior high (i'm a college student) and they finally showed themselves one day when they said they couldn't download questhelper because their parents wouldn't let them.

i also was in a guild that turned out the 4 main members was a dad, his 8 yea old son (yea 8 an playing warcraft) and his other 2 sons which were around 11.

another one i was in invited me and before i could say "hey guys thanks for the invite" we get a slew of insults from the guild master saying that religion was stupid and the devil was the savior of the earth (oddly enough he was playing a priest)

but of course if i go solo then every 5 steps i take in a major city i get an invite to a guild or a whisper saying: "why no guild"

very dramatic. the guild i am in now is quiet and peaceful even though there is only 4 of us that is on all the time, it is nice to be left alone and out of the drama, lol.

Re: I HATE guild drama

I think every guild has its ups / downs, problem children and E-Drama.

Guild members will only get away with what you allow them to, if your a 'Hard Core' guild then by all means lead like one and weed out the problem children, E-Drama and those that do not abide by the guilds rules, guidelines and policies. the same can be said for 'Casual Raiding', 'Qeusting', 'PvP', 'Levling' or 'insert your type of guild here'.

It all boils down to the leadership, members will get away with whatever you let them.

I would rather have a guild of 20 members who are dedicated and have the same goals in mind as the guild than 100 E-Drama, problem children that I have to fight with tooth and nail to be on time and ready for raids etc.
