Cheers and vent about kiddies

I am also new here I have been reading this website for about a year and saw someone else post that they were a long time reader and this was their first post too.

I am really sick of playing with kids... I swear to god it makes me want to quit wow sometimes. I understand its a video game but come on... There has got to be a guild out there where the min req. is 21+/// I understand that there are a select few of 18-ish aged kids out there who arent d-bags completely. I just sometimes get sick of all the schlong and queer references... I hate asking like "anyone in college, or graduated, or can haz job irl" and hearing crickets... Then gettign told that Im just old... I am 29... but i didnt think that was like old... old.. maybe it is... sigh... feels good to vent... done//endrant

Maybe i should start my own or something...

On a side note... I am getting trashed to day, its my aunt's b-day IRL (lol thought id clarify) and I am throwing her a huge party.

Which is awesome cause its only like 2 weeks before finals (college) and I need all the distractions I can get.

I guess it doesnt help that my wife called me a pedo (jokingly) when she asked how old my old GM was and i found out he was 17..ish... ROFL I love my wife...

So if anyone knows of a 21+ guild on my server I haz humor and will travel.
--- Information Added ---
Oh.. to clarify/// my reading here for a year was just using all your valuable information on gearing and speccing. I never really looked at any chat areas... But i love the guides that get put out on this site... priceless imo.

Re: Cheers and vent about kiddies

I understand what you mean completely.

I myself am 19 years old, 20 september.

but it really gets to me how immature some people are.

Theres a thing called having fun and having a laugh, completely what WoW is all about.

But theres not room in this for constant gay references, jokes about illness or even racist jokes. This is not what WoW is about.

Its not just kids that are immature. In the past ive had 13 year olds in my guild and currently have a family (40-odd guy, 2 sons 14 and 8....yes 8)

But they are the most well behaved and mature bunch ive seen. Its great

as guildmaster I try to keep swearing etc out of guild chat, and if a case arises I first see who is online.

At the moment there is one person in my guild who is immature, as soon as i find a healer, and a new tank however...hes gone:P

Re: Cheers and vent about kiddies

I think most of us have been through the Kid's night on warcraft. i am 22 and if i even mispell something on the trade channel i get the 11 year old trade troll trash me saying i can't spell and i'm a tard. plus around 9:00 PM on my server we get the Harry Potter and the [insert item here] hour. or the chuck norris joke'athon

honestly if they get really bad i report them for spam. hah.

it's funny though because their level matches their age. if they are below level 20 and hang out in stormwind all day, that means they have no intentions of leveling, all they do is sit at the fountain in stormwind and watch the trade channel for some unsuspecting victim to say Felgaurd instead of Felguard and they attack; like some sort of mini prepubescent ninja queer.

although i do have to say i have found a few decent ones, but honesly if they are young and mature, you will never know. they won't post their age, or they will lie. so those 25 year olds you run with may be 14 but really mature. lol. which is ok with me.

Re: Cheers and vent about kiddies

kids only play up when its expected of them to do so, they're really only trying to fit in.

Its up to the mature community to develop a culture of respect to others, punish them when their behaviour is unacceptable and praise them when they behave well.

I'm only 23 myself but I already have the age old slogan runing around in my head "kids these days", its not a good sign.

Im 19 myself and i do swear...alot..(im a tradesman not really an excuse but an explanation none the less)
ive had many run ins befoe i started my horde character, when i was on the zenedar EU server for alliance i would be insulted by the "children" times a plenty but since i went horde on the dragonblight EU server the only immaturity i find is the "Anal chat" this is much like the harry potter and the....chat but think yourself lucky you dont get what we get, they start off by putting the word anal in front of/behind (excuse the pun)
for example "anal blizzard" and then you meet an immmature warlock and i will admit we have the best spells for this....but i cant help feel it gives us locks a bad name

Amen. You're not old, you're just a pup! J/K

Welcome to posting!

Seriously though, I agree with you 100%. I hate to say I hate playing with kids, because I've played with some really nice young people--but the fact remains that for each good one there are hundreds of foul-mouthed, ignorantly racist/homophobic, spoiled, disrespectful and immature "children"!

Unfortunately, as long as mommy and daddy pay for their WoW subscription (and cell phone, groceries, clothes, insurance, car and what-have-you) and turn a blind eye to their kids behavior, we're just stuck with them.

I did indeed go ahead and start my own guild for this very reason. So far we are very small and as long as we are growing and progressing I'm as happy as can be. Not to say I don't have to still put up with the kiddies in Trade and Barrens chat, or the brats that gank you while you're fighting the the bosses in Ampitheater of Anguish, I most certainly do. But it's really nice to have mature people to bitch about it amongst ourselves and cool each other down. Right now the enjoyment factor still outweighs the aggravation factor for me.

Since immaturity doesn't always apply just to kids, I don't have any arbitrary age limits on who I allow into the guild, or who I play with for that matter. We just play as much as possible with potential guildies before allowing them into the group.

Ultimately, if you still enjoy the game, the "kiddies" will be little more than an annoyance. Once they become the focus--then it's time to move on. I just bought Fallout 3......just in case, lol!

Cheers!

Re: Cheers and vent about kiddies

There's room for every sort of person in WoW. Bad taste in itself isn't a sign of immaturity, so much as they way it's conducted and the way it makes other people feel. Maturity is much less of "acting like a grown up" and more just "handling things like a grown up". If that makes sense. However whichever way you slice it, being in a guild with a minimum age policy will reduce the immature rubbish you deal with. It won't eliminate it, because everyone is human, but it will throw a lot more bathwater our than baby.
