Re: Chaos Bolt could be more win

tbh..it needs some sort of glyph or talent to increase its crit chance.

3.2 will kinda help this by making your next spell 100% crit...but who is going to keep CB off its cooldown to take advantage of this?..may be usefull in BG's tho ie: timing CB crits...I think this will be nerfed very soon after 3.2 goes live...ie: the ability to control crits of hard hitting nukes.

iv always favored shadow bolt over incinerate simply because incinerate has so many factors built in to it (ok a few factors) that give it that kick. We NEED To have immolate on the target, if you don't its a bad cast and a bad bit of damage, we need the glyph, same reasons pretty much. I never ONCE used incinerate till we got the wrath talents back at the end of BC....never had to.

Point being that Shadow Bolt's base damage is at least 10-15% more than Incinerates, I have crit higher with SB than Incinerate in some instances.

I have a theory and that is during Backdraft to cast Shadowbolt or throw one in there if you can just to raise the overall DPS since it will do good, usually I Have CB on CD as well as Conflag and I might need to pop an immolate but that gives me 1-2 casts where I can possibly use shadow bolt. This is just my thoughts but you guys should give it a whirl and see what you come up with.

Are you talking PVE or PVP? In PVE you will ALWAYS have Immolate up, so it's a mute point. In PVP there are times when using Shadow Bolt can work, like when locked out of Fire, or your Immolate got cleansed and you don't mind the longer cast time (but Searing Pain would work too.)
