Warlock spells in other languages
Was wondering how some of our lock abilities/spells translate into other game languages? I know there are French, German, Spanish, Chinese and Russian WoW clients (and I'm sure there are many more localizations). How do you translate 'Life Tap' and 'Nightfall'? Not looking here necessarily for the language equivalent, but the transliteration back into English... Does 'Life Tap' in French translate directly to 'Life Tap' in English, or does it translate to something else? |

Re: Warlock spells in other languages
Well, in german Life Tap is "Aderlass", which translated back to "blootletting", which I guess fits, because you're getting rid of "blood" (hp) to balance your other "homours" (mana). Nightfall is simply "Einbruch der Nacht", which translates back to...."nightfall" My favourite translation however is drain life: "Blutsauger"...yeah, we're bloodsuckers, sounds good. |

Re: Warlock spells in other languages
In Spanish, Life tap is "transfusión de vida", which means... life tap xD Nightfall, however, is called "ocaso", which means literally nightfall. No originality here :( |

Re: Warlock spells in other languages
Not only thinking about Nightfall and Life Tap, but some interesting differences - like 'bloodsucker' for Drain Life. Yeah, I know this is a geek question, but amusing in its way Last edited by fizboz; September 18, 2009 at 02:22 PM.. |

This doesn't directly answer your question (since it doesn't list spells) but it does list a lot of other localized variables: Localization info - WoWWiki - Your guide to the World of Warcraft |

Re: Warlock spells in other languages
You have an option to switch language on the Wowhead site: Connexion - Sort - World of Warcraft some spells 'sound' different in other languages, Life tap in german means 'Bloodletting' and in french 'Connexion' = Connection ![]() Ah, and Warlock is 'Démoniste' in french, a kind of demon master - fits well I think Last edited by Minou; September 18, 2009 at 06:20 PM.. |

Re: Warlock spells in other languages
I guess what I'd like to know is, do dwarves in other localizations still sound Scottish? :) |
