A few questions that have been bugging me: What is the imp's Crit rating? does it scale with yours? How would you calculate it if it does? Or does the imp's crit rating only scale with his INT? just a few minor things to consider before i pick this talent. Any feedback it welcome

My imp seems to be have around a 20% crit rating. It is not influenced by gear worn, that much I know. I was also curious on how to increase the imps Crit rating... I don't think his intellect would increase the crit rating too much if at all, otherwise at level 80 the crit rating would go up drastically. Anyone know for sure? I'd love to see empowered imp proccing more  .

I absolutely -love- this talent! From WWS logs, my imp tends to have between 20% and 30% crit % which is absolutely lovely during raids. Mana problems flew out of the whindow so all you have to take care off is making sure he does not stand in ''Death Rays''. In raids, having this proc 2-4 times in a row tends to give a nice damage boost overall, it is still a random thing. Also remember to keep him out of Phase Shift ( Just turn it off ) so he gets all the buffs you can get. Depending on your gear level, this can give you up to 70%~ crit on the next spell. As I don't PvP, I have no idea if its usefull in Arena's or BGs but Imps tend to get 1-2 shotted so I wouldent count on it ;p Also, its ''meh'' on Trash and 5 Mans, because on longer fights it only comes to its full potentional. |

I understand the +15% damage is good but my question really lies in the imps crit rate. My imp seems to only crit at about 2% so I'm only really getting half of this benefit. Is this average or is there something wrong with my pet? Maybe I'm just having a bad stretch... |

Pets (Hunter, Warlock, Death Knight) have a flat 5% crit rating that is unaffected by your own crit rating, or any other stat for that matter. It is a completely non-scaling stat as of 3.1.3. You can see this by mousing over your demon's agility, even for caster demons such as the Imp. This can be further buffed by the Demonology talents Demonic Tactics and Improved Demonic Tactics - which of course you won't have if you've talented for Empowered Imp. That's it. So you may find yourself wondering why is this talent worth it when your Imp just has a 5% crit rating? The reason it is worth it in a raid environment is because there are a few debuffs that increase the chance for crits against the debuffed mob. This can bump your Imp's crit rating up to the area of 10% or so depending on who you have in the raid. Still, not exactly overwhelming. I would argue that the real benefit of Empowered Imp is the +15% to the Imp's damage, the crit mechanic is just icing on the cake. |
