Re: Destructive Reach
A must-have for Destruction Warlocks, in both PvE and PvP.

Re: Destructive Reach
I agree with TheAkrab. This is just as important as taking Grim Reach in the Affliction tree. The extra distance is vital in this age of melee pawnage.

Re: Destructive Reach
There may be one exception, but it won't last in Wrath of the Lich King. Warlock tanks, some of us may have had the chance to experience tanking in raids! I know I was thrilled when I tanked Leotheras the Blind's Demon. In these cases the talent can be left out. In Wrath of the Lich King however, sadly, we are being replaced by Death Knights for "magic tanking".

Re: Destructive Reach
I'm actually going to disagree with the previous 2 posters, destruction's range becomes redundant if you don't also have Grim Reach. If no Grim Reach, then you're going to be standing at 30 yards to cast curses, Corruption and Seed of Corruption. The main benefit is the threat reduction which at the moment isn't an issue with tanks putting out huge amounts of threat. At 80 in T7 threat still doesn't seem to be an issue (i.e. in Naxx), but Blizzard has mentioned that its testing is showing threat to be tighter at higher levels. |

I don't know about you but I need threat reduction(must be running with the wrong tanks). Also, on trash, I don't use a single affliction spell. Mobs don't stay up long enough to worry about curses / corruption. On certain fights / pulls, there are going to be occasions when you need to stand closer for seed of corruption, and in boss fights, usually distance isn't to much of an issue (+30yrds I mean). But for overall easy in trash fights and the occasional dabble in pvp, I think it's a very worthwhile talent, esspecially for only 2 points. Even if the tallent only offered 10% thread reduction, I'd still (personally) take it - the distance is just a bonus.

Re: Destructive Reach
For me it would be mainly the distance, in PvP (especially against melee) it is well worth the 2 talent points. The only curses I really use are Curse of Tongues and Curse of the Elements. Unless I'm nearly dead and my partner is going to be left standing against a DPS class, I'll quickly throw in a Curse of Agony and Corruption. It's not useless for me without Grim Reach, not at all.

Re: Destructive Reach
Take it for the reduced aggro - not for the range. The reduced aggro is always useful, the improved range is only situational. The equivalent spell in Affliction does not reduce aggro - so I've never bothered to put points there. |

Re: Destructive Reach
Well, it's easy for one to say take it for the range, and for the other to say take it for the threat reduction. But shouldn't we look at this talent from 2 sides? The PvP side and PvE side? I know the majority of Warlocks here at the Den focus on PvE, but let's not forget there are other ways of playing the game.
