Destructive Reach

PvP

Destructive Reach is HUGE in PvP, it allows you to get 36 yards on your destruction spells, and almost 40 yards with your AOE blast template.

It allows you to hit that warrior running towards you before he gets into charge range. It allows you to hit a feared target with a shadowbolt before he runs out of range.
The extra six yards give you more cast time to cast a second nuke before the first one travels all the way from you to your target.

PvE

Destructive reach allows you to stay out of harms' way during a fight. The extra six yards give you more cast time to cast a second nuke before the first one travels all the way from you to your target. The reduced threat is vital in raiding.

Comment on Grim Reach. OF course, if i have the points, I will have BOTH Grim reach and destructive reach. It will make things a lot easier for both PvP and PvE. Ever tried SoC, SoC, Soc and Shadowfury at 36 yards out? Although I understand that in raids, this range is not as useful.

PvE:
10% threat reduction means a lot, and it's worth taking for that. 36 yard range is not that important if your dots/curses are only 30, true, but there are fights that limit your positioning and hitting with anything is a bonus - Prince for example: his shadow nova is 30 yards, so if you are in range you need to run out (losing cast time) or be kicked away by the nova (losing cast time to get back in range).

PvP:
Haven't tested it much, but in BGs range is helpful. In Arena not as much. no need to mention that 10% threat is useless , right? >_>

Edit: Not really sure about the ranking: most posts are positive and it has 2.5 points average....

Just spec one into it, imo its not worth 2.

damage > reach need the instant casts and power.

You could spec 2/2 Des reach if your lvling, good for mobs, but at 70 its garbage....your always going to be slower then other classes.

i have 3 points in suppression raiding naxx/os/voa and have just tweeked my talents taken 2 out of health stones and put one in destructive reach and the other in Soul leach.

it might not be much of a % decrease in threat but its made noticeable difference to my threat. Im shattering less often and not having to manage my agro so much in general. its worth the extra point imo.

what im not sure of is when i get more hit gear how im going to play it, the 0/13/58 cookie cutter spec maxes SL and ISL but only 1 point in destructive reach i want both but cant really see where im going to get the extra point from for 2/2 in destructive reach as well as maxing ISL

I took a point of Backlash for it. 1% crit lost is worth 5% reduced threat...now if only we could get the 30%+ other classes have...
