Does Improved Shadow Bolt count as a debuff?
*** Please note the dates on the posts in this thread. This is an OLD thread - Pre Wrath of the Lich King changes. Kept for informational purposes. Please read the end pages for most recent information. For current assistance with this talent, please see: *** I've never tried this talent myself. If it takes a debuff slot that's bad for raids. EDIT: Cancel that, as it happens someone has asked this just now on the US boards and the answer is that it does leave a Debuff. |

Regarding Blood Pact and Improved Shadow Bolt
Hey all. I recently found this site and the help I have found here is amazing. Thanks for everything. Now on to my questions. My Warlock (60 for nearly 20 days of game time) has been a SM/Ruin build from day one. But after getting into a group working on putting MC on farm status, I figured I would try out a demonology build. While learning to use this new spec effectivly, I have run across a few problems. First, my Imp's stamina buff is still giving only 30 stam to my party, instead of the improved 42. Has anyone had any experience with this? Second, I replaced Cataclysm with Improved Shadowbolt and it looks like my SB crits are overwriting the curse I have put up. Keep in mind that I'm noticing this in MC, where the allowable 16 debuffs is pushed to the limit, but the shadowbolt proc is appearing in the same position that my CoS/CoE was in. I don't think that this short increase in damage is worth losing my class fuction as a primary debuffer, and if this is the case, I will not hesitate to go back to the poor reduction in mana cost. Any insight concerning these issues would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Regarding Blood Pact and Improved Shadow Bolt
Not too sure about the Improved Shadowbolt bug... But it is known that Improved Imp is bugged and that extra stamina we don't get. Hoping Blizzard fixes it when the patch comes out.

Re: Regarding Blood Pact and Improved Shadow Bolt
its only the tooltip thats showing incorrect values, i had imp. imp and it was giving me the correct amount of stamina you have to view the stats tho dont reffer to the tooltip. Now im back to regular imp and people in guild dont seem to notice due to the fact hardly anyone looks at the stats but theres a significant diff in total health especially if you havedemonic embrace which i assume a lot of warlocks have, granted not all but i always found it a must have talent. The SB removing Cos might in fact be a bug, i havent noticed it but i noticed my cos being overwritten often might need to pay closer attention to SB crits, but very possible when they changed cos to have +10% damage the Imp. SB debuff which is 25%? does in fact overwrite the lesser debuff, will get back to you on that one once i give it a decent test |

BC Improved Shadow Bolt tooltip
It's been a while since I checked Imp. SB, it was always an opener talent for Bane, nothing more. But if only DD spells affect the bonus, I don't see a point with it. How many DD shadow spells do we have? One and one with talents! I doubt I could normally pull off 3 Shadow Bolts and a Shadow Burn after on Shadow Bolt crit. NF would make this a little bit more realistic. The Curse of Agony and Corruption eating the "charges" was no big deal, but still a little more damage to for a Tier 1 talent. Well, as long as they don't give me 20% or at least 10% mana reduction I will stay with this and give some +20% shadow to other warlocks and shadow priest in BGs. This still makes sense for PvE, but I think that it is smarter to reduce damage after a crit... and not increase... |

Re: BC Improved Shadow Bolt tooltip
IMproved shadow bolt increases damage our dots do right now. I dont know how it will work in BC but now it works. My corruption ticks for about 190. If I crit shadow bolt it jumps to about 240 until the crit duration is through. |

Re: BC Improved Shadow Bolt tooltip
Originally our DoT *ticks* would consume charges of Imp SB, making it even less likely we would use our DoTs in raid situations. Currently our DoTs only get the bonus if we cast them while the Imp SB debuff is on the target, and they consume a charge. Here is what the BC tooltip says: "Your Shadow Bolt critical strikes increase Shadow Damage dealt to the target by 20% until 4 non-periodic damage sources are applied. Effect lasts a maximum of 12 seconds." This is a buff btw. What it means is that while the Imp SB debuff is on the target ALL Shadow DoTs on the target will be ticking for 20% more damage and NOT consuming the charges. Only Shadow nukes will consume the charges. |

Re: BC Improved Shadow Bolt tooltip
Correct. Whats good is that if you open up with dots and then you crit shadowbolt the dots immediately start ticking harder. |
