While in Ulduar last night i was going to try this but with improved life its not really possible is it. We only have so much health.

But then I was thinking about something that someone wrote here somewhere.............use rank 1 to activate the buff?

min health decrease every 8 secs to get the buff.

Now my question is how to work into my rotation and is working into my rotation worth the effort?

Can someone plz help me with this?
Hi Sighmoon,

Yes, as you correctly hypothesize, Rank 1 will activate the buff too

In fact, you will find that a low rank life tap will be what you use most of the time. Or rather alternate depending on if you need mana or not while also getting the SP boost.

In terms of working it into your rotation, unless you have a lot more spirit or 4/4 valor without losing significant SP gains in Ulduar, I would suggest not trying so hard to work it into rotation because you lose GCD for every tap. To have 100% uptime you lose about a chunk of time every 60 seconds to maintain this.

With that said, in order to generally equal the dps boosts glyph of immolate, activating this once a minute is not really that hard to work in. A lot of fights in Ulduar are movement based and since you don't want to clip Curse of Agony, and it can be inefficient to clip corruption, you may as well boost your SP while moving out of that damaging zone on razor scale, moving to the haste light beam on hodir, running from eye beam on kolgarn, falling from being thrown in the air by flame sear on ignis, running from lightning charge on thorim, etc..etc..

Not to mention that while you run to position yourself for the boss fight pull, you can just low rank life tap right at the start.

In practice, it's not really hard to naturally keep the buff up a lot depending on the fight. Also considering that towards the end of the fight when you are in Execute mode for decimation, this is when you may need your mana back anyway, this is where the life tap buff will have a much higher benefit than forcing it to stay up all the time through the whole fight.

Thank you so much for your response. Reading what you said puts it in perspective.
Also, perhaps with all the running we do in Ulduar I should consider changing my meta to the 25 sp / minor run speed one:-)

Have to agree here, after testing a few times tapping it seem lightweave seems to proc 9 times outta 10 at some stage during the 20s life tap buff, which makes for a huge boost in spell power

base inc fel armour <2500 sp>
Spirit=600 <120 sp> every 20 secs
lightweave <250 sp> almost every 10 secs

so totalling around 3000 sp, if casting life tap regulary, every 10-12 secs..

+ the fel armour health per 5secs should cover the cost in health a fair bit too

also, it might be an idea to lock in life tap rank 1, if you can't afford to lose the health? <just an idea>

hmmm, thinking rather than replying to a quote i should have scrolled down to the bottom, feel a bit of a goon now

Re: Glyph of Life Tap: how much Spirit makes it worthwhile?

Unfortunately, I've yet to see anybody figure out the answer to the original question... how much spirit does it take to make the Life Tap glyph worthwhile?

I don't have 4PT7, I'm not a tailor (no lightweave), and I'm in mostly Heroic level gear. What I'm not sure of, is how much DPS just the LT glyph is with my level of gear.

According to the spreadsheet, for my setup the Immolate glyph is worth about 32 DPS. The Lifetap glyph is worth 100 DPS. That's pretty significant, and it will be worth me testing it to see if it works out for me. Not that I have to choose... as a Meta/Ruin warlock, I run Felguard, Immolate, and Lifetap glyphs.
