Re: Lifetap Glyph FAQ
Perhaps we could flesh it out a bit more with a paragraph covering that issue? I realise it's in another thread, but those who are not aware of said thread won't know the answers are there.

Re: Lifetap Glyph FAQ
From what I have seen, you can work the proc using the negligible effects of Life tap rank one and then when you actually need life tap use the rank 8. It costs the same mana either way, but the effect of the two is a huge difference. Rank one is (0 + spirit * 1) Rank eight is (140 + spirit * 3). (I am no expert and I am mainly guesstimating here. If someone wants to run the real numbers that would be AWESOME!) T8 gives 117 spirit. Locks aren't stacking the stat either. From what I see in my guild (I am still lvling my lock; thus why I troll here. ) spirit at 80 does not get past 450~500 range without raid buffs. So worst case is somewhere around... 800~1000 hp every 10 sec with raid buffs. The main question should not be, "will I max my DPS?", BUT "can my healer take this and keep us going?". This will change as your healer changes. Best practice is to corner your healer with the math and ask, "If I do this can you handle it?" If it is a good healer it should tell you the truth. Also, make sure your math is the buffed math, because that is the only math that counts. ![]() The life tap glyph gives spirit too, so that is something to watch out for in a rotation. |

Re: Lifetap Glyph FAQ
From my personal experiences and trying out different Simcraft scenarios, I found that I got my maximum DPS from a rank1 lifetap prior to the pull, with rank8 as needed for mana (I get ~2800 mana back if it is outside the proc from t7.x proc), so I lifetap about every 4000 - 5000 mana used. Originally, I did the continuous lifetap buff route and initially saw some dps increase, but realized when I got used to the 'metered' way of doing it, so I ran out of mana or nearly so at the end of a fight, that I was having an easy 100+ dps increase simply from having more GCD's dedicated to damage. I tested these findings by entering my specific stats and build at the time into Simcraft and ran with the various glyph scenarios there and it suggested I should have a greater increase, so I decided I was on the right track. |
