Dreadsteed quest - Have mats but need help - Daggerspine

I need a group to help me get my dreadsteed. I have my mats and am willing to let another 'lock use them for free if they can provide the group to get through West Dire Maul.

Advertise. You MUST advertise; and I don't mean only through the channels. You must whisper at passing locks wherever you are; whether questing or back in a hotel just chillin. Whatever you do, do not go to Dire Maul and start yelling. No one will come. Not even herbalists (and, being one myself, DM has a mother lode of essential herbs!) I, too, had the mats; and after unsuccessfully going to DM and pleading for help (even offering to tip), I made a friend with a lock just in passing and found out that he had LOADS of friends from within his guild. We went in together and were successful; now he sends more of his friends my way.

The point is this: WOW is not going to change the way locks get their epic mount....they want this quest not only to be hard but to remain highly unaccessible; seeing as though most tanks don't like this instance. Even a 30g tip won't get their attention; and a good tank is essential for DM.

It took me two weeks to gather the 250g for the mats and another two weeks to find a group, but in retrospect, stopping locks indiscriminately until I found one with enough friends to help was well worth it.
Do not give up. You must have that horse!

gotta tell you what i did.i went to the social tab, and looked up all the level 60+ locks on my server. then i whispered each and every one of them till i found one that would not only help, but he used his mats as well.plus, he did not want a tip...hooray! the only thing was, i was to get the group together.two level 70 guildies helped me out.just got to be bold.i cold whispered about 20-25 till i found nitefear.he was great.

You see, Embre? Just keep at it; cold whispering may seem a desperate act, but I would rather have my steed and lose a little pride (remember, i was PLEADING!!) than have to buy a mount or continue to lag behind higher 60s when headed to a dungeon.

Not to hijack a thread but I have to thank you two Unacron and Altoeen. (and Embre too for starting this thread )

I'm on Caelestrasz and there is nobody listed for that realm with the mats. I have two friends that have the mats and said they would be happy to help but one I haven't seen in months and the other gets to play very little and "soon" ended up being from level 60 when I was ready to do the quest to me dinging 70 still riding a felsteed.

Anyway I saw this post today and thought yeah they're right I just need to knock on as many doors as I can. So I ask in the channels a few times and the usual...nothing. Then I do a who and as I'm looking through the list I realize 3 of the people on it are in DM and one is a 60 lock the other a 70. So I do a who for DM and sure enough 5 people listed, 4 from one guild and one from another. I PM one of the 70 locks (there were actually 2 in the group) and asked if they were doing the quest and then if there was anyway I could join them. After being told "I'm really sorry man but it's a full group" I politely explained that once they killed the dreadsteed they could summon me in like a sub to the group and I'd still be able to complete the quest and they said sure, no problem.

FINALLY!!! I've had the gold to buy my flying skill and mount saved for the last two levels too so this was really holding me up.

And you know the best part to all this? I'm an east coast player playing on an oceanic server. (don't ask...) I've been in a couple of guilds and one was full of loot ninjas, the other was run by a complete *** so I've been guildless (other than the banking guild I have with a good friend) since level 50 something and I think I've finally found the guild for me. The 4 people that were in the same guild invited my friend and I to join them and they genuinely seem like nice people. To top it all off they're all from the US and most of them are very close to where I live so we all play at the same times. Talk about fate...what are the odds.

So a big thank you both Altoeen and Unacron for the advice and to you Embre for starting this thread. I hope you've found a party already and are riding your new speedy beast! If not I wish you as much luck as I just had getting it done.

Denzien brings up a good point. I know it is not the way it is supposed to be done, but you can get a summon into the instance for the Skills and Steed after someone else has completed the quest. Maybe you can use this to your advantage. Try to get some people who have other level 70's and a warlock that needs their Dreadsteed to help you.

Get them to bring their level 70's to help you with the quest and in return you summon their warlocks with out the Dreadsteed once the quest is done. Bring tons of shards too.

I was fortunate enough to be dragged though the instance with 4 level 70's from a friends guild. There was a pally, 2 warlocks and a hunter all level 70, and me level 60 or 61. They were all well geared and ran though the instance like a buzzsaw through butter.

Just keep trying, it is a remote instance, and mentioned before tanks hate it, and just not that many people want to go there. But keep plugging away at it, it is worth it every time I mount up I still smile a little.

Also, BEFORE you leave, or hearth out of the instance, check your riding skills and spell book to make damn sure you have got the completed quest. Tell others to check too, don't want to have to do it twice.

Yeah I feel it was the cheesy way to do it and I'd have much rather been part of the ritual but I'm glad to finally get it done. I was ready to go buy the mats myself but even that was proving hard to get done because I was having trouble getting people to agree to help in the dungeon. I had two others and neither was 70 or a tank or healer...

I'm hoping I can still go and buy the mats now that I've completed the quest. I'd have no problem helping other locks out with this because I know how much of a pain it was for me.

glad i was of some assistance.after i was done with the quest and many levels later i went back to gorzeeke(spelling), and got the mats. so if your on chromaggas just give me a pst.
