Cool things/Easter Eggs

There's prolly been another topic about this, but I love this kind of thing and couldn't find it else where. If there is one, feel free to link it and I'll close this.

WoW seems to have lots of hidden stuff in it and it really marvels me that so much attention to detail went in to some very small parts of the game. This thread is just for pointing those and other little hidden things that people might not normally notice out. I'll start with a couple.

- Throw on Detect Invisability and run through the courtyard of the undercity. Seems the spell is actually good for something :-p.

- If you stand in the throne room portion of the ruins above the undercity, you can hear Arthas fighting and eventually killing his father, though your speakers must be pretty loud and its still a bit mubbled.

Add more!

This is a link of a discussion that was made on the alla boards about some NPCS in the games that are based on people in real-life.

My personal favourite Easter Egg was located in the Sludge Fen in the Barrens. When I was going to get the key for the goblin in the shredder from the head goblin up top, I came upon a named dwarf who was called Foreman Grills. I got a nice chuckle out of that because it refers to the famous boxer, George Foreman. For those that don't know, after George Foreman retired from boxing, he invented a grill that quickly became popular.

The Sledge Fen thing is cool, never noticed that :-p

I'm not talking about just names though, but little hidden details in the game. Has anyone else noticed anything?

It's probably listed in the Alla forum link, but my favourite is the Fight Club homage in Undercity. There's also an incredibly rare mace found in Scarlet Monestary called Fight Club.

I dig the Link(en) quests in Un'Goro, the whole Zelda feel. Feeding the kodo, raft, daggers, sword, lady in the lake...

Re: Cool things/Easter Eggs

This page lists most of the easter eggs I'm familiar with: http://www.blizzplanet.com/modules.p...howpage&pid=91

Here are a few that the page missed:

Various centaur names in Desolace:

Khan Shaka = Chaka-Khan
Khan Jhen = GenCon, one of the most famous RPG conventions in the world
Khan Dez'hepah = Decepticon, the evil robots from the Transformers catroon series

Servo in The Badlands - The site caught most of his quotes, but they missed one. Servo's quote "It's a dry heat" comes from the movie Alien.

There are two elite ogres named Rahk'zor and Hak'zo, aka r0x0r and h4x0r.

Re: Cool things/Easter Eggs

I can't believe I forgot this one.

There is an rather infamous young woman marketing her pornography site to WoW players. She claims that she has a level something-or-other undead mage and that she plays WoW all the time when she isn't prancing around naked in front of a camera. Someone from one of the the more famous EQ/WoW guilds out there discovered that this woman has a deformed right foot. A popular slogan on this guild's forum was "What the Hoof?!", which referenced this woman's deformed foot. This phrase should be familiar to anyone that's played an alliance character in Alterac Valley. The quest to turn in tauren hooves is also called "What the Hoof?!"

I've tried both of these to no avail. I suppose I could have just missed the sounds in the throne room, I didn't really try that hard, but I've yet to see the ghosts in the courtyard. Is it because Detect Lesser Invisibility wont work? Do I need a higher rank or something? Or am I just looking in the wrong place/wrong time?

I haven't seen the Hanzo Sword mentioned. An homage to Kill Bill?

more likely an homage to Hattori Hanzo, who was in Kill Bill, but also existed in RL a long time ago, i think he was a ninja swordsmith or something from japan... did kill bill exist before this sword dropped??
