40.. and feel inbetween levels!!

I have hit 40.. have my mount.. so I check my quest book to see where to head next, and realize. oh my god.. I only have reds ( ELITE ) ( and maybe even a few grey hehe) so.. my question to you is. where at 40.. do I go to quest at this level, where I don't need 4 other people to help me out? I have looked online at maps and level guides and such, but I just feel like I am at that inbetween stage where I am old enough to buy the cigerettes, but not old enough to drink yet?? know what i mean?

Just look for some ideas.

At 40 you can start Tanaris (quests from Gadgetzan and Steamweedle port), you'll have some left in Stranglethorn Vale (the 43 - 45 quests that take part in the bottom bit), can head to that island that has the Alliance outpost in Feralas. Have you done Badlands yet? Starts late 30's, but still good in the 40's. Finished Desolace? Swamp of Sorrows has late 30, early 40 quests.

If you have done all of those, start looking for groups to complete all your instance quests : Uldaman, SM if you haven't completed, Zul'Farrak when you get a level or two. At 40 the zones really open up, you should have heaps of choices.

Razorfen Downs also has some excellent drops as far as instances go. Including the almighty Robes of the Lich.

You might also want to check out the searing gorge area. The mops are 42-45 if memory serves, but that should hardly be a problem for a lock ol

Actually I just went to Searing Gorge last night (46) and all the quests are around level 49 - 50. But then I'm horde so don't know if Alliance can start their earlier.

But go to desolace then, and do all the quests a Ghostwalker post (if youÃ‚Â´re Horde) & Shadowprey village. Should be a couple of lvls there atleast

If you haven't done Descolace yet then it will still give you average XP, but the quests start low 30's so most will be green by now. Even though your Alliance Demonsaviour, you can have a look at the quests I did in guide 8 (some overlap between factions). I think Angelina's on the best track though with end of STV, Tenaris and Feralas.

new to this area...

Did every quest I could in Desolace.. spent about 8 levels there in the 30s.. great place to be.. loved it. As for where to go next.. am in Tanaris ( my spelling isn't the best sorry hehe) and the quests I had gotten so far are red.. ( besides surfing online is there a way to tell what level red means?) will go see if I can find Feralas..

Don't forget, just because the quest level might be a bit higher, the mobs involved may not be too bad. If you got Wastewander Justice, it's 44 so yes, would be red, but the mobs you have to kill are level 40 - 42, not hard at all. The Wastewander are also excellent mobs to bring on as you can continue handing in their water pouches 5 at a time for all sorts of stuff (food, water, potions).

You can get add-ons that will tell you what level the quest is ( http://www.curse-gaming.com/mod.php ) but generally, a red quest is 5+ level's higher than you. You want to look mostly for yellow quests as they are around 1 - 2 level's lower than you through to a level or two higher (so two levels either side). Orange quests are 3 or 4 level's above you, the way green is 3 or 4 below you.

Have you done the badlands quests yet? I know there is a ton there for alliance to do. At 40 they'll problably be green but you should be able to knock them out fairly quickly. There are also some quests that are high 30's/early 40's in Arathi Highlands as well. I hate STV so never do any quests there. I level from 30-40 bouncing from Badlands/Arathi/Desolace mostly, as well as Hillsbraad/Alterac mountians. Once I hit 40 I usually start doing the quests in Tanaris (I agree about the wastewander series), and a few in Feralas. In a few more levels you shouldn't have a problem starting the ones in The Hinterlands as well. And as you move into the upper 40's Felwood quests should start opening up as well.
