Where at 23 on PvP?

** Split from Crypt's Guides **

I am a level 23 lock undead on a PVP server and have been trying to level and do the quest that were mentioned in this guild up in Hillsbrad Foothills, I cant tell you how many time I have been sideswiped by level 60s in this zone.. Is there a better place for me to go where I wont be ambushed by level 60's. Its discouraging to think with one hit I'm dead and I have to try to find a safe spot to kill to complete some of these quest.. I wouldnt have a problem if these fights with my enime were at an even level but come on...

Also being new to this game. I also thought you had to attack your enime first before they could attack you? Many questions I know but if i dont ask I wont learn. Could someone please help me understand the game play rules..

I am thinking of starting over on a non pvp server to avoid the ego's from my enimies.

Re: About Crypt's Guides (Read First)

Soulsick I don't play on a PvP server (never have) so won't be much use to you there. I will ask Akasha to split this part off into the general sections so that someone else may be able to help you.

Re: Where at 23 on PvP?

In contested zones anything goes. It doesn't matter who attacks first. In your own territory you have to attack first unless a) you just came from a contested zone or b) you attacked somebody and either won or got killed. Either of these will keep you flagged for 5 minutes in your own territory where you are free game. In enemy territory you cannot attack unless they attack you first or are flagged from one of the previously mentioned scenarios. Although you cannot attack you can still /duel enemy characters. If you catch a foolish hordling and /duel them they will generally attack before the duel countdown thereby flagging them to be annihilated by everybody around :-p. Hope this helps.

Re: Where at 23 on PvP?

Hillsbrad is a contested zone, so you are flagged as attackable when you are in that zone.

You are better off either going to instances all the time with a group, or farm somewhere other than Hillsbrad for xp. It's likely that you'll always wind up getting xp in contested zones, but Hillsbrad is especially a busy zone. Might want to avoid spending time there. Try farming Mottled Raptors in the Wetlands. Keep going to Wailing Caverns and Shadowfang Keep with a group.

If you don't enjoy being able to attack and be attacked almost everywhere on the map, why choose a pvp server? If it's something you think you'll enjoy once you're 60, you'll just have to suffer through the hard stuff while you level.
