Argent Dawn

Is this faction really worth raising? Will there be some beneficial effect later?

Re: Argent Dawn

There are pretty good faction rewards and decent resistance enchants to shoulders. Personally, I'm doing it for the anti-venom.

Re: Argent Dawn

Depends on how much you are into your trade skills, but yeah they have some good rewards when you have enough rep.

Re: Argent Dawn

It's worth it to be revered just for the +5FR for shoulders. There's also NR too so for AQ it's nice.
I'm an enchanter/tailor and I am very into my skills, I have to have every pattern ever created even if it sucks so I grinded my rep using the cauldrons.
edit: oops I can't type :D Thanks for pointing it out

Re: Argent Dawn

I'm working on my exalted status. Chief motivation being the +5 resist all enchant you unlock on achieving that rank. The best (fastest) way to achieve that is to grind the undeads in the field with the highest level undeads in Western Badlands. You can collect ectoplasmic fragments for the cauldron quests while looting marks to turn in later on.

Be aware that it's a very long and boring process. I'm doing it because I need to fill up my 24 soul shard bag from time to time anyway and because those mobs frequently more runic cloth than I need for completing the cauldron runs. Hence I always have an excess of heavy runecloth bandages.

Being Horde, my hearthstone points to UC so it's not too long riding with my fast mount + riding gear to that zone with a quick stop at the Barricade to turn in my marks and buy the needed reagents for my cauldron quests.

I'm also building rep to exalted... Also for the +5 resist all shoulder enchant...

Firstly, I assume you mean western plaguelands (western badlands is another place entirely).

Secondly, are you sure gaining rep in the way you suggest is faster than just running scholo over and over? I think Scholo runs are the fastest way to build rep...

Re: Argent Dawn

I think that the cauldron's are faster unless you have a dedicated Scholo group. I can kill more mobs faster around the cauldrons than I ever could if I had to get a 5 man together and get into Scholo.

I don't think it matters which zombies you kill as you get the same +5 rep / mob through exalted. The highest level field they drop invader scourgestones but they seem to drop them less frequently. I can easily get 20 minion scourgestones in less time than it takes to get 10 of the invader scourgestones. If I'm alone, I grind the "writhing haunt" cauldron (#3) because the mobs repop at about the same rate as it takes me to clear most of the field so I don't have any downtime. In a group, I grind Gharron's withering.

I am reading with the release of the patch and the Naxrammas 40 man instance, there will be patterns you can buy from the Argent Dawn vendors to craft certain resist items for this instance.

Re: Argent Dawn

1/ Yes running Gharron's whithering is the fastest way to gain reputation (at least after you hit revered status). Be warned that it's almost unbearably slow anyway.

2/ Yes, there will be new Frost resistance items patterns to be bought when you reach revered/exalted status:

[Require Argent Dawn - Revered] :
Epic Gloves
Cloth 76 Armor, 22 sta, 30 frost resist, 15 damage and healing
Leather 146 Armor, 18 agi, 18 sta, 30 frost resist
Mail 316 Armor, 22 sta, 30 frost resist, 22 attack power
Plate 562 Armor, 9 str, 18 sta, 32 frost resist, 5 Defense

[Require Argent Dawn - Exalted]
Epic Chest
Cloth 121 Armor, 26 sta, 40 frost resist, 21 damage and healing
Leather 234 Armor, 18 agi, 26 sta, 40 frost resist
Mail 506 Armor, 24 sta, 40 frost resist, 40 attack power
Plate 899 Armor, 12 str, 24 sta, 42 frost resist, 8 defense

As a side note, I believe that the 2 other sources for frost resistance gear are the loots dropping from Azuregos and the unlockable Alterac Valley pieces. It seems that Blizzard insists on us collecting resistance sets (fire: MC/BWM, Nature: AQ, Frost: Nax, Shadow: ?).
