High Priestess Amokk

I realize this is more of a generic question rather than Warlock specific, but I’m pretty sure nearly every guild out there has at least one Warlock in it… =p

High Priestess Amokk is the “Panther Boss” in Zul’Gurub. My guild has taken her down previously (a while ago), but when we tried the past two weekends, we have had our rear ends handed to us in a big way. Looking for some help / advice / strats from people who have killed her recently.

The last time we killed her we had the main tank in the middle of the room, one off tank at the end of each of the panther pens and had them hold the panther’s while we focused 100% DPS on Amokk. The past two weekends though, we have had all the panther’s running THROUGH the gates and our off tank Warrior’s were unable to control them.

I have googled till my eyes bled looking for information on how to kill her after what ever change they made. Unfortunately nearly every single one seems to be old enough to still mentioned the Green Whelp Armor strategy. (Where people wore the armor to put the panthers to sleep, changed recently to only effect the under level 50 mobs).

Is anyone else having trouble with the panthers running through the gates? Any people / guilds fought and killed her recently that could pass on any advice? I figured since we’re across goodness knows how many servers, that hopefully the concern of “leaking uber strats” won’t necessarily apply here.

Help a fellow lock… please?Â

Re: High Priestess Amokk

Blizzard changed this encounter in patch 1.10. The cage tanking method no longer works. The cages do not block agro and the panthers with immediately attack anyone and they will zerg rush through the cage to reach the marked target. They way to beat this encounter is to have everyone AoE burn down the panthers when she vanishes, then focus back on here with as much DPS as you can to burn her down. You need everyone who can heal focus on keeping the AoE classes alive. Shamans if you are on the horde side need to pop mana tide totems to keep the casters full mana. I also suggest everyone bring consumables like mana and healing pots, etc.

Re: High Priestess Amokk

Aye, changed in Patch 1.10

Problems with the above now are things like :

- A squishy get's marked. Can die while waiting for AoE. Can't do AoE themselves.
- AoE'ing can burn down some of the most valuable damage dealers mana (mage's, locks etc)
- Multiple people marked, especially if squishies, burns through healers mana VERY quickly

We gave our clothies 2 Flash Bombs each ( and more than a few people harvested the mats to make them all) to use to keep the panthers off of them. Also, have your healers keep their backs to the wall to keep from being backstabbed by Arlok when she reappears.

We began with the MT in the middle of the room, and the rest by the gong. Mages use rank 1 Frost Nova and shamans use Earthbind when somebody gets marked, and when she vanishes, everybody cross the room (just to gather all the panthers in one place), then mages/warlocks AOE. I think we usually killed her before she got to vanish the second time.

Re: High Priestess Amokk

Being marked sucks big time. In addition to getting priest bubbled, I keep my VW out to be sacced (2000 HP), use fel domination to sac another VW, and use a potion of invunerability.

Why rank 1 frost nova?

I'm guessing for the snare/root only, kinda like using Rank 1 earthshock to interrupt spell casting w/o using too much mana or casuing threat.

Re: High Priestess Amokk

We have all raid except for one or two healers do dps from the start and we ignore the panthers. Druids are feral, shamans are meleers and so on. Once she vanishes first time, we get healers back on healing duty. Waiting a little bit while collecting the panthers and then AoE them down. After that we spread out to wait for her return.
At this point we have the marked ones run around in the rooms, with mages frost novaing now and then. Priests shield the marked ones. Others still doing burst damage on her. Most of the times we get her before she vanishes a second time, otherwise she dies very soon after reappearing for the third beating. Basically though we ignore the panthers while dps:ing her, and aoe panthers when she is not around.

edit: ok, just checked the date on the post. guess noone has trouble with her anymore.

We paid Arlokk a visit last week after the 2.0 patch, and we saw a noticeable difference. She seems much harder than the Tiger Boss for us now.
