New Light's Hope Chapel

Posted by st0rmie at the VN Boards:

I've been on the test server, checking out the upgrading of Light's Hope Chapel to a "quest hub". And now I'm here to tell you about the latest set of "casual epics" that will be made available in 1.11.

What it boils down to is collecting Insignias of the Dawn and Insignias of the Crusade. Yes, there are some Scarlet Crusade ambassadors at LHC working with the Argent Dawn in what appears to be an uneasy alliance. You then turn in large numbers of these Insignias for blue and purple rewards. Much like the Cenarion Circle field duty quests and badge collecting, with two major differences:

1) You only need Friendly with the Argent Dawn rep to get all rewards. Instead, as you reach higher rep levels, you need dramatically less Insignias to buy a reward.

2) While some of the Cenarion Circle field duty quests were soloable, for some classes, Insignias can be gathered by farming high level non-elite mobs, and thus will be soloable by everyone. Also they will be effectively purchasable (see below).

A bunch of NPCs in LHC have repeatable quests to gather 30 drops. These are things like bone fragments, crypt fiend parts, elemental cores, dark iron scraps, etc. They will tell you where to get these things: e.g. bone fragments drop from skeletal undead in the Plaguelands and in Stratholme and Scholomance; dark iron scraps drop from mobs in Searing Gorge and Burning Steppes and inside Blackrock Spire and Blackrock Depths.

A brief farm of skeletal mobs in EPL made it look like the drops are reasonably frequent. And the questgivers suggest that drops will be "more plentiful" from mobs in instances. Anyway, gather 30, turn it in, and get an Insignia (some drops are good for an Insignia of the Dawn, some for an Insignia of the Crusade, some for either).

Important news: these drops are NOT bind on pickup. So I expect a big market to open up, especially since it sounds like there will be mobs in EVERY endgame 5-10 man instance that drop something for these guys. There will be a lot of these entering the economy in the hands of people who weren't deliberately farming them and who may well have no interest in collecting them. Result - lots of bone fragments etc. on the AH.

There is also a guy who gives out "tradeskill writs". Give him one Argent Dawn Valor Token, and he'll give you a writ, which is a random quest like the CC field duty, to gather some material. I got one - it was to gather 30 Plated Armorfish, and the reward was a choice of either Insignia.

Now, the rewards! Here's how many Insignias you need, according to AD rep:

Friendly: 60 Insignias total (30 of the Dawn, 30 of the Crusade) for a blue, 220 total for an epic
Honored: 40 for a blue, 150 for an epic
Revered: 14 for a blue, 90 for an epic
Exalted: 12 for a blue, 54 for an epic

And the rewards? Here are images:

If those links are blocked for some people let me know, I can copy the info into the thread...

Thanks for the info. The blue caster dagger seems nice, but I just got a Sageblade, so I will have to try for the epic trinket which seems like a nice piece - even if the description is poorly worded.

Re: New Light's Hope Chapel

Out of all those rewards the only one I'm interested in is the trinket. I feel very behind the curve faction-wise in this game. Powergamers in my guild go from farming one faction to the other, and I have time to help but never to actually hit exhalted myself.

Re: New Light's Hope Chapel

Most of the rewards are meh.. in my opinion. The only ones I would think about getting are the Blue 18 slot bag, the Epc neck and the Epic Trinket. Why the neck you ask? It's got pretty balanced stats. You might say the Orb of darkmoon is better, but I like the balanced and usefull stats on this more. )

Nice they finally worked out the faction in a way that doesn't drive me up a wall. This is a very nice middle ground imo.

Re: New Light's Hope Chapel

Many of my friends and guild members are revered if not exalted already with AD. I am curious if they plan on leaving the faction as it is or if they are going to do a faction wipe and put everyone at neutral. As it stands now I don’t need much more rep to hit exalted but I also don’t see any items I really want out of that list but the Supply Bag. It sure will be nice as a warlock having 3 (18 slot) bags since we automatically loose one from our shard bag.

Re: New Light's Hope Chapel

I'm almost positive they won't do a faction wipe. Imagine the (rightful) outcry coming from people who spent countless hours grinding their rep. Personally, I plan to grind 2k rep points every week tarting now to close the gap that will lead me to exalted (12k/21k right now) so that there won't be much left to grind when patch 1.11 is live. The reason is that I strongly suspect that the event that will take place at that time will enable you to gain nice reputation bonuses whilst killing mobs during that event.

Concerning the 18 slot bag, I will definitely farm more to get some. FYI?, you can already get 18 slotters by:
1/ crafting/having them crafted by someone posessing the pattern for the "bottomless bag" (requires 2 core leather among among things).
2/ Killing Onyxia. A 18 slotter will drop 100% any time you kill her.

Be aware that Blizzard has announced that there will be 20 slot bags in the future when the expansion comes out I guess.

Re: New Light's Hope Chapel

The Argent Dawn Supply Bags are listed as unique, so you'll only be able to get one of them per character.

Still dang nice. I'm kitted out with Mooncloth bags, but I'll still go for one of these. Argent Dawn is my favorite faction in terms of lore, so it'll be a pleasure.
