Second boss of the Arachnid Quarter - Approx 2,230,000 health
This is all based on 10 man Naxx

Our guild went in for the first time last night. Our farthest progress in BC (before nerfs/3.02) was 5/6 SSC and 3/4 TK. No Sunwell gear here. Most of us replaced all but one or two pieces of our gear by 80. We ran a few heroics, but most of our gear is from normal instances and quest rewards.

Raid comp:
MT - warrior - ~27k health
OT - pally - ~30k health
Healers - priest, priest, pally

DPS : Lock (0/41/30), Hunter (51/20/0), Warrior (19/52/0), Enh Shammy, Rogue

Abilities:

Poison Bolt Volley:

Will hit the five closest players to boss (not sure about targeting on this)
Every 15 seconds.
2625 to 3375 Nature damage and a dot for 1480 to 1720 Nature damage every 2 seconds for eight seconds.
Dispellable
Widow's Embrace prevents the use of this ability for 30 seconds.

Rain of Fire:

Random - very often
2775 to 3225 Fire damage every two seconds.
lasts six seconds. 8 yard radius.

Frenzy:

Every 60-80 seconds.
Increase physical damage by 150%, melee haste by 50% size by 50%.
During it she will hit the tank for upwards of 15,000 damage
To stop the frenzy you must kill a worshiper add
worshiper MUST be in melee range of Faerlina when you kill it for the Window's Embrace to remove the frenzy.

Strategy

Main tank on faerlina
off tank holding aggro on all 4 of the adds
Neither Faerlina or her adds hit all that hard, until the frenzy goes off.

We had Pally tank on worshipers. By himself, he was able to kill the worshiper in 2 seconds when needed.

Keys to this fight, but its pretty easy.

Cleanse poision
Don't stand in the rain of fire! Pally FR aura helps healers with this
As soon as Faerlina enrages, kill a Worshiper to remove the enrage

We wiped a few times because we didn't understand the Worshiper needs to be in melee range of boss to remove the frenzy. Once we figured that part out, she went down quick. If you outgear the encounter, I'm not sure it matters. We were able to keep tank up through 1 or 2 frenzies regardless. The tank will be moving around to avoid Rain of Fire.

You only have 4 adds. That means you have 4 chances to remove frenzy. Which means you have less than 5 min to kill her. Should not be a problem.

Our WWS got borked, but hunter was ~2000 dps, I am around 1800 dps, and the rest are in the area of 1500 dps.

None in the raid had done it more than in the 10-man version so we wasen´t sure about the tactics. However, the fight started out and we killed those add guys when she frenzied as we thought we should. When she then fell down we got the archivement "kill Grand Widow Faerlina without dropping her frenzy". After all we haden´t avoided her frenzy and it was apperently up the whole fight. The point with this post is that you can really ignore the frenzy and just go all out on dps instead. We haden´t got any good-geared members, just heroic geared and such. So gogo careface the frenzy!

Raid makeup
Tanks: Prot warrior, DK, Prot Warrior
Healers: 3 Priests, 2 Shammies, 2 Pallies
DPS: Aff lock, FG/Emb lock, 6 hunters!, rogue, warrior, enh shammy, 3 mages, unholy DK,
DPS : Lock (0/41/30), Hunter (51/20/0), Warrior (19/52/0), Enh Shammy, Rogue

Abilities:

Poison Bolt Volley:

Hits ten random players compared to 5 on 10s
3375 to 4125 damage and dot for 1900 to 2100 compared to 2625 to 3375 and dot for 1480 to 1720 on 10s
Still dispellable

Rain of Fire:

3700 to 4300 compared to 2775 to 3225 Fire damage every two seconds on 10s
still random, still frequent

Frenzy:

same frenzy ... +150% damage, +50% haste
will hit the tank for upwards of 20,000 damage
Having DPS kill a worshiper will NOT remove the frenzy
priest must MC the worshiper and use the Widow's Embrace ability to kill it.
worshiper MUST be in melee range of Faerlina when you kill it for the Window's Embrace to remove the frenzy. We had a DK Death Grip it into place

Followers

2 additional adds
melee with a random charge
~500,000 health each
either kill first, or OT for the whole fight

As soon as Faerlina enrages, have the priest MC a Worshiper and use Widow's Embrace to remove the enrage

Wiped once trying to kill the Worshippper to remove frenzy. Didn't work, tried again and the priest didn't have the Worshipper in range. Switched to having DK death grip them in place, then have priest MC. Worked beautifully.

Still have 4 worshippers, which means you have 4 chances to remove frenzy. Which means you have less than 5 min to kill her. Should not be a problem. We killed the Followers first, finished before first enrage, accidentally killed one Worshipper, and still were able to kill her easily.

Top 5 DPS are over 2800, # 10-15 range from 1600-2500.

Today in 25 man we went for the achievement. We killed all adds by aoe-ing the crap out of them, and switched to faerlina. I was suprised how easy the tank was kept alive by healers. I do believe she hits for less in 25 mans than in 10 mans, else i can't explain how a tank that isn;t by any means the best geared tank we have managed to survive. She did go down really quick tough.

Coud	Re: Grand Widow Faerlina we bring 8healers to 25... and if I recall correctly aside from patchwerk, it's largely overkill. if heroism is popped just as she frenzy it's actually pretty easy to keep the tank up ( or he/she can just pop every CD to live )
